Things to keep you busy

We all like to get away once in a while, in fact, I just went away this weekend. But let’s face it: being on the road for hours at a time is boring. So what is there to do? I’ve compiled a list of road trip games you can play while sitting in the car to make the time pass.

1. The ABC Game

It’s pretty self-explanatory…you have to just find the letters of the alphabet on the road in order. It starts to get tricky once you hit letters like q, v, and w.

2. License Plate

The way I play this game is to see how many different states’ license plates you see and write them down. This generally works better when traveling across states, but you never know who may be traveling through your home state.

3. 20 Questions

This is a classic. Whomever can think of an object first can go first. You can either play just by asking yes and no questions or general questions. You can play with two or more people and it’s a fun game for all.

4. Name That Tune

All players have to do is chose one person to hum or whistle a song. It’s easiest if you chose a category and go from there. Whomever guesses the song first, wins.

5. Counting Game

Depending what area of the country or state you’re in, chose an object and just count them. It can be played with one or more people. If you have multiple people you can verse each other to see who can come up with the most over a certain period of time or the whole car ride.

These are just a few games to keep you occupied if you have nothing else to do. Of course you can always sleep (if you’re not driving or co-driving), listen to music, talk to your friends (unless you’re alone) or play crossword/Sudoku games. Happy travels!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
