Living With A Stranger | The Odyssey Online

College is full of new experiences. Anyone can tell you that, but not many people focus on the fact that you are living with a complete stranger (for most people) in a tiny room. Of course, everyone talks about your roommate and whether you are going random or not; however, not many people elaborate past that.

Being forced to live in a tiny room with someone you don't know is really strange when you think about it. It can go one of two ways. You either become best friends and the experience is amazing or you end up never talking and you are just simply co-existing in the same room together (really awkward).

The idea behind having a roommate in college is great. Ideally, you automatically have a best friend, someone you can go to events with the first few weeks before you get to know more people, and get through all the awkward first stages of college together. Plus if you become best friends with your roommate, then it's like having a sleepover with them every night!

But when you really think about it, you are living with someone you either met online or quite frankly met the first day of school. That can be terrifying. You don't know who this person is at all and have to trust they aren't crazy.

I was terrified about living with a stranger. The night before I moved in, I had a nightmare that my roommate was going to be a psychopath (dramatic I know). I used to share a room with my sister, so that part didn't worry me. I was more scared that we wouldn't get along and it would be really awkward. Thankfully, that is not the case. I've only been living with my roommate for three weeks, but it has already been amazing! I lucked out and got a roommate that is so fun to be around and really similar to me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
