5 Delicious Restaurants Every MC Student Must Try

Good ole Clinton, Mississippi. As those of us who live here know, there isn't much to do other than go out to eat. Thankfully that's pretty much all my friends and I ever do back home, so we knew we had to get out and try every place we could. Now that freshman year is coming to a close, I'm pretty sure I have tried just about every place worth trying. So here is a list of my favorite places that I will definitely be going back to, if I haven't been five thousand times already.

1. Hot Bowl

If you live in Clinton and you haven't been to Hot Bowl, you're doing it all wrong. Hot Bowl is a Mongolian Stir-Fry restaurant, but for some unknown reason, it taste way better than any of the other chain versions. The best part about Hot Bowl is that it's completely customizable, and they have all the ingredients you could ever want. If you just want broccoli, just get broccoli. If you're like me and you want all the veggies, treat your bowl like a game of Tetris to get the most use of the space you have and leave no air pocket unfilled.

2. Sushi Village

Now, sushi is one of those foods I can never have enough of, but as a college student with a budget, I always have to limit the amount I eat. Sushi Village apparently knows this struggle and has single-handedly taken care of it with their unlimited sushi for $9.99. Yes, you read that correctly, unlimited shushi for $9.99! As someone who is used to paying around the same price for only two rolls, I can tell you this sushi is just as good. So, it's safe to say my friends and I will definitely be regulars at Sushi Village from now on.

3. Taste of India

One thing I found surprising is how few MC students have actually tried Indian food when we have our very own Indian restaurant just minutes away. They have a lunch buffet that is everything! Of course, I didn't know what half the things on my plate were, causing my friends and I to refer to the food by its color, but all the food is amazing. Don't even get me started on the garlic naan bread, which is unlimited by the way. So if you want to become more cultured and try something other than the plethora of Mexican and Asian spots Clinton has to offer, you must try Taste of India at least once. While you're there go ahead and check out the Indian grocery and clothing stores connected to it.

4. Keifer's Restaurant

One thing I noticed when I moved to Clinton was how obsessed everyone here is with gyros, specifically Keifer's gyros. With everything from your traditional beef and lamb gyro to the best Falafel wrap I've ever had, Keifer's is a must if you're in the mood for Greek food. Also a must try is their fries, which are essentially an entire potato thinly sliced and seasoned. A whole potato. Just trust me. Although not located in Clinton, this place is totally worth the 20 minute drive to Jackson.

5. Froghead Grill

With a name like Froghead, what is there not to love? Unless you hate frogs of course. Like I mentioned before, Clinton has more than enough Mexican and Asian places, which makes Froghead a much-needed alternative with its American/Cajun menu. With a large variety of items from Po-boys to quesadillas, there's bound to be something everyone likes, which is a must when going out with a big group of friends. A must try is definitely the sweet potato fries, which they cover with powdered sugar and serve with their "hunny bunny" dipping sauce. And no, frog is not an item on their menu.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
