Somehow, someway, we are already half way into the month of March. It seems like the start of 2018 was only yesterday, but the way things are going I feel like the Fourth of July might actually be tomorrow. (don’t worry, I just checked—it’s not).

With almost three months of the new year down, I thought it would be a good time to check in with myself and with you on just how well those resolutions are faring. To be brutally honest, when this thought crossed my mind I was more than a little worried about how this would go.

First, I wanted to be intentional about carving out time for myself and utilizing that time strictly for me. Instead of half taking a break and half still thinking through the next paper I have to write, truly taking the time to let my mind rest. I think I’ve been pretty successful with this! And truly, I have found myself with extra time because I’ve become more productive in my work time.

Second was the cliché. I wanted to get back into my workout routine. I have seen flying colors on this front! I have been consistently in the gym (thanks, Crunch!) at least 6 days a week and I feel better and more confident than I have in a long time. Breaking up my workouts and trying new things has been really fun and it keeps me going back.

Next, I wanted to get in the kitchen more. I have done pretty well with this, and part of that has been that I made a decision to be vegan at home! Cutting out dairy was far easier than I expected it to be and discovering new recipes that were friendly to my new diet has made cooking all the more exciting. I’m having a blast exploring new dishes to try that are keeping me healthy!

Fourth, I wanted to keep up with my planner. I’ve made some improvements, but I can definitely continue to work on it. I’ve been much more diligent getting everything added to my planner as I’m given work, but I need to refocus on actually checking it daily and making sure I am on track.

Lastly, my ultimate new year’s resolution was to use the year to refocus on and find what happiness means for me. So far, I think I have made my happiness a priority this year, and I’ve been better for it. A better student, a better girlfriend, a better friend, and person.

Turns out I’m not doing so bad on these resolutions. It’s nice to check back in with ourselves and make sure we are reaching the goals we are striving for! Good luck to you and I hope you achieve your own resolutions!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
