It's hard to let things go, but sometimes it's harder to remember why you left those things behind as time passes. When you look back, your memory does this thing where you long for the good times and remember them so well, but you also remember the hurt of everything. Somehow, the hurt tends to get less and less, which is why when you're hurting, you need to remember that feeling and why you decided to let things go and move forward.
Jobs can be tough. You can make some of the best friends while working those jobs, which makes the every day struggles worth it. They help you get by, and at the end of everything, you remember the good times with them, which make you feel like maybe the job wasn't so hard or boring or whatever. Sometimes you need to remember that you didn't leave because of the people (maybe you did), but because you weren't in love with the job. Make sure to feel passionate about the things you love, and if your heart isn't in it every day, it's okay to move on - and don't forget why you did. New jobs are scary, but you decided to move on for a reason.
Friendships will come and go your whole life, and that's okay. There will be friends that you make at any age that will stand by your side your entire life, but there will be tough friendships that will hurt you and change you. When that time comes to move past each other and move on, it's okay to be hurt and to be confused, but don't forget why you decided to let that friendship go. It's okay for people to have some time in just a part of your life, and not consume your life. When you do move on and when you do leave those friendships behind, make sure you remember why. Don't second guess yourself and know that you have the strength to keep going. Make sure you remember that you deserve the friends who lift you up and make you whole. Moving On
When you find a place you feel comfortable or love, it's easy to stay put. Sometimes people settle in their college town because they don't want to give up that small taste of freedom they felt when they first went off to school. They can't seem to leave that lifestyle behind because they don't want to leave the place that gave them freedom. Regardless of how you finally find the courage to leave, to find a new adventure, new job, relationship, whatever it may be, remember that the person you were at that time may have been amazing, but remember why you decided to move on. Remember what you learned, and remember why it's better to move forward.
Relationships - this one is a doozy. Sometimes you only remember the good times. Sometimes the pain and hurt can get masked by your love for that person. With that, it's easy to fall back into old patterns or long for old times because it's a safe place and because you love that person dearly. Whatever the reason was why you left - a huge fight, cheating, your heart breaking - remember it. Always remember why you left. Regardless of how much you loved that person, regardless of how much you cared, make sure you put yourself first and remember what you deserve. Walking away is always okay if you feel that it's for a better you.
Moving on is hard, and remembering why you walked away can be so hard when you look back and remember all of the things you loved. Don't forget why you moved on - and not because you should remember the pain. Because you should remember all that you deserve and why you left to put yourself in a better position and make yourself a better person. You deserve the best and you need to be the first one to remember that, always.
