Remind yourself daily that you are important. I suppose this is something I have forgotten far too often. The simple phrase can be pushed to the side when trying to get through the day without falling over from stress, anxiety, school work, and lack of coffee, or whatever else it may be. Its OK to make sure your needs are taken care of before everyone else. In order to help others effectively, you must first help yourself wholeheartedly. As a college senior this is something I had to remind myself of. It’s OK to take a break, recharge, and most importantly, BREATHE. The meetings are not as important as you. Mental breaks to hang with a friend, or just treat yourself, are dope. And your significant other will understand that me time is more important than you and I time.
So, if you haven’t focused on you and how important you are to yourself, go ahead and let yourself know right now, and every day moving forward.
