It's around that time of the year again. Yup, that's right ladies and gents, cuffing season is practically here. For those who don't know what the term "cuffing" means, let me explain. As Urban Dictionary says, "during the fall and winter months people who would normally rather be single or promiscuous find themselves along with the rest of the world desiring to be "Cuffed" or tied down by a serious relationship. The cold weather and prolonged indoor activity causes singles to become lonely and desperate to be cuffed." I can actually imagine my mother laughing at this already at home saying how ridiculous this term is. Mom, you and me are thinking the same thing.
How does the cold make you want to be in a relationship? I don't know if I just don't understand this concept because I have always been a pretty independent gal who doesn't need a man, but this is some stupid stuff. Do you people not want a relationship in the summer? You sweat in the summer, so you must be single, right? Freezing means relationship and sweating means single. What the hell, dude.
Now I'm not saying every relationship made during this time-period is a fail. Trust me, that is definitely not the message being said. If you are truly happy with someone, I hope you two live a long and happy life and invite me to the wedding (the wedding better have some good food). However, during the cuffing season comes around, the term "relationship goals" pops up on everyone's Instagram feed. Yet, in relality it isn't so much a "goal" but just an average thing to do. You guys got dinner together? Mazel tov, honey! People get into this relationship and feel the need to post every detail on social media. I'd be lying if I said I don't post an Instagram here and there but c'mon. Me and my best-friends get dinner all the time. Are we cuffed to each other? Goals, right?
Make your own relationship goals. Doesn't even have to be a romantic relationship. Are you single and lonely during those brutal and cold winter nights? That's what your fellow single and lonely best friends are for. Just because it is "cuffing season" doesn't mean us girls should be chasing down a boy. Live a little and have the roles reversed.
If you ever feel lonely or sad because you aren't "cuffed", listen to "No Scrubs" by TLC, have a dance party and drink all the wine you want. Screw the relationship goals and be a happy successful single person this season.
