I thought I would switch it up a little, and write a restaurant review this week.
The other night I went to the somewhat new restaurant on the square in downtown Troy, Ala., Sip’s on the Square. Sip’s on the Square is a wine bar and pizzeria. As I was walking up to the restaurant I thought it was closed because the lighting was so dim, but as I got closer I could see a crowd.
My first impression of the place when I walked in was really good. The atmosphere was very mellow and urban. However, there was an issue with seating, which is always awkward. So as I walked in there wasn’t a sign that stated whether I should seat myself or wait to be seated. After standing there for what felt like an eternity, and no one coming up to me, I just picked my own table.
The tables were very unique, but they weren’t meant for short people. The tables were tall and the chairs were really short; I had to basically stand the whole time.
Their menu selection was very good. They had a lot of options, but I decided to stick with the basics for the first time. I ordered a medium pizza, which was about $11, with pineapple and jalapenos. The order came very fast. If I had to guess, it was probably 20 minutes. I could actually see the steam coming off the pizza as the waiter brought it out. The pizza was perfect. It didn’t have an overwhelming amount of cheese, the crust was cooked to perfection, and they were very generous with the toppings.
The first bite was so tasty, but there was a negative element to it. The jalapenos were by far the hottest ones I’ve ever had. I like spicy food, but these jalapenos were just volcanic hot. So, unfortunately, I had to pick them off. I decided to order ranch because who doesn’t like ranch with pizza? This ranch was by far the best ranch dressing I’ve ever had! I even asked the waiter what kind they bought, and of course she told me they make it at the restaurant.
