Your Favorite High End Makeup Vs. Its Drugstore Equivalent

Trying to help you break the bank, and not break the bank.

I love makeup. But, makeup can be pretty expensive especially if it's from Sephora. I'm totally guilty of spending all of my money at Sephora or Ulta though I hate to admit it, there are some good drugstore brands that won't break the bank.

Here are some of my favorite drugstore and high-end makeup products.

Primer

I think primer does a really good job of setting your makeup before the application process. I've never really tried a primer from the drugstore, but the Smashbox photo finish primer is my go to! It's a little on the pricey side, but worth it in my opinion.

Concealer

I have awful dark circles and I need something to cover those babies up. Right now, I'm using a concealer from Maybelline, and it is very similar to NARS creamy concealer, which I do like. I'm really picky about concealers and I really haven't found one that is my holy grail concealer just yet.

Foundation

For the high-end side of makeup, I really like the powder version of the Amazonian Clay foundation by Tarte. I tend to have oily skin in certain areas and this one helped take away the shine and made my skin look really clear! If you're a more liquid kind of girl, I'd go with the It Cosmetics CC cream. I'm not really one who likes to wear a lot of makeup and like to go for the "no makeup" makeup look.

This CC cream does a really good job of making your complexion even and doesn't look cakey! For the drugstore side, I haven't really found a ton of products that I like. But, the L'Oreal pro matte foundation is what would be what I would buy if I couldn't afford a higher end foundation at the time.

Bronzer

I am pretty fair skinned so I always like to add some color to my face. From the drugstore, I LOVE the Butter Bronzer from Physician's Formula. It smells sooo good, and gives me the color I want without looking too orange. For the higher end makeup, I haven't tried too many because I'm obsessed with the butter bronzer, but the Hoola bronzer from benefit is a good bronzer to try!

Blush

I am also picky about blush because I don't like to wear blush that is super bright since I am pretty pale. I normally go for a very light pink or a peachy color to complement my complexion. I like Tarte's and NARS blushes from Sephora, and I haven't tried too many from the drugstore.

Eyebrows

Any brow product from the brand Anastasia. That's all.

Eyeshadow

The drug store has some pretty good eyeshadow palettes from NYX. But, I always use the Naked palettes from Urban Decay. It's like 48 dollars for a palette but you get like 10 colors so it's justifiable to me. Also, the morphe palettes are awesome and have a ton of colors that last all day.

Mascara

For me, it's always been really hard to tell the difference between the mascara from Sephora and then the drugstore mascara. I've used Better Than Sex from Too Faced and it gets really clumpy after a while. Right now, I'm using a mascara from the drug store in a pink tube from L'Oreal and it's super similar to the Better Than Sex without the clumsiness. I just saved you like 15 dollars. You're welcome.

Lipsticks, lipstains, lipgloss

NYX has a buttercream lipgloss and those are the bomb and they are pretty cheap. Also, Colorpop has 5 dollar lipsticks and they are super similar to the Kylie Jenner lip kits, and they get the job done. Color pop used to be online but now Ulta carries it.

These are just some of my favorites and recommendations!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
