Reasons Why Best Friends Are Important

Every friend is important but do you know the real value of your best friend?

Reasons Why Best Friends Are Important

In this day and age, there are many things we take for granted: running water, electricity, cell phones, etc. A lot of us even take our friends and family for granted. Even our best friends are forgotten sometimes. Here are 8 reasons why having a best friend (or best friends) is important.

1. They Will Always Have Your Back

A best friend never has malicious intent towards you. They are your biggest fan and your other half. They are protective of you and will tell you if you are being (or plan on doing something) stupid. They will have your back like your family always loyal and always there for you and if you forget it they will remind you!

2. Breakup Support System

After every breakup whether it was a long-term relationship or a short-term one. Best friends are there for you at your worst hour (when you’re eating ice cream from the tub and watching a sad movie). They will listen to you and support you. Best friends are also there for when you need to open the windows and let in a little light because you haven’t left the house for a week and get you dressed and ready for a girl’s night. They will stay with you as long as you need them and even sometimes get you so wasted you won’t remember the morning. Whichever best friend you have whether they give you tissues or tequila, they do this to try and help you get over the break up.

3. Ultimate Wingman/Wingwoman

Whether it’s after a break up or just another night on the town, your best friend makes the perfect wingman/wingwoman. They will talk you up and make you appear as a catch because to your best friend you are a catch. They think highly of you and they don’t set you up with someone who isn’t worthy of you. They don’t pressure you to dating or push you to make a move but they will support you in any way they can. Sometimes a best friend will even try to play matchmaker just to see you happy.

4. Will Always Be There To Talk (and Listen)

Best friends, unlike some friends and family, are always there to talk to. They give you advice on problems and life choices. They will talk to you for hours at a time and never judge you for your thoughts. They are also always there for you when you need to vent or rant to them. Best friends are usually great listeners. They know when to talk, when to listen and when to hug you. You can rely on them, which removes some stress that forms when you deal with things by yourself.

5. They Know Everything About You (and Vice Versa)

Your best friends know everything about you. Every past relationship, your favorite foods, what movies you like, your best friend knows it all. What is better than having someone who knows you better than you know yourself? They know about all kinds of random facts about you. Your eating habits, pet peeves, worst enemies, who are by default their worst enemies. You guys could go on a game show and win with the amount of information you know about your best friend. Your best friend is part of your family and you’re a part of theirs, like two halves of a whole.

6. You Are Completely Comfortable With Them

You can cuddle on the couch and watch movies and not worry about it being weird. You can shower while your best friend is on the toilet and you can talk about drama. You can talk about absolutely anything and be the fake girlfriend or boyfriend it’s necessary. You can share a bed and fight for the blanket because you are that comfortable. You share all the details (even the dirty ones) about a relationship you’re in or a fling you just had. There are no boundaries when it comes to your best friend.

7. Compliments and Confidence

Your best friend (as I stated earlier in the article) is your number one fan, they compliment you and boost up your confidence when it’s low and vice versa. You pick each other up so that no matter what you and your best friends are never down for too long. Compliments no matter what kind, naturally bring you confidence. By having your best friend compliment you and by complementing them, you establish a positive relationship and a happy setting. You both feel confident and you both are happier than you were before.

8. If You’re Lucky You Might Even Marry Them

If you date your best friend, you might be lucky enough to marry them. This is not as uncommon as you may think. Best friends are very important in life and if you are lucky enough to spend the rest of your life with them than you don’t really need anything else. A little personal story: my grandparents met when they were young. My grandma was walking with her friends and my grandpa was driving his car. He pulled up to them and he asked my grandmother if she had a cigarette, they talked and he asked for her number. They became best friends, and to this day both of my grandparents feel so fortunate to be married for 48 years to their best friend.

Hopefully one day I'll be fortunate enough to find someone to be my lifelong best friend too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
