13 Reasons All High School Students Should Decide To Go To USC

The cool one, not the one in California.

While my response when I'm asked why I chose USC is "why wouldn't I have?", I do actually have my reasons, so here they are:

1. When it comes to football, we get really passionate

Nothing beats when "Sandstorm" starts blasting through the speakers at Willy B. The student section is the place to be on Saturdays during football season.

2. It's #1 in so many things

USC has the best public honors college, top undergrad international business major and international MBA, best international experience, and best Ph.D. program in exercise science. Oh, and the best women's basketball team in the nation!

3. Lots of places to eat

Whether you're on or off campus, you'll never starve. USC has all-you-care-to-eat, pizza, tacos, burgers, and even Mediterranian. Want ice cream at midnight? They have that, too!

4. It's such a beautiful campus

With every season, this campus just gets more beautiful. It's so aesthetically pleasing that going to the top of a tall building for the view is a cool way to spend some time.

5. There's a lot of history behind it, too

The original campus was founded in 1801 and it's still a main part of the now-expanded university. The buildings are still there, as are most of the bricks that are a right of passage to trip over.

6. You can be at the same events as country superstar, Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker is a former student and one of USC's biggest fans. You can catch him at sporting events, which is super cool!

7. They make sure their students enjoy themselves

USC likes for its students to have fun when they aren't in class. 21 Savage had a free concert for Homecoming, Greene Street almost always has something going on, and there are organizations dedicated to holding cool events.

8. Of course, they make sure their students get a phenomenal education

USC has a seven-story library filled with resources to get students ready for exams, finals, and their careers.

9. You'll meet amazing people

You just might meet your best friend, a professor who really cares about you, or maybe even the love of your life. It's all happened at USC!

10. The colors look great on everyone

Garnet and Black are two colors anyone can not only pull off, but look incredible in.

11. Chicken Finger Wednesday

It's such a beautiful constant in a world where life seems like it's coming for you from all directions

12. Cocky

What a bird! What a mascot! He's the best and everyone knows it. He brings all the hype to any and all Carolina events.

13. Not many schools love you back and tell you so

There's a good chance that when they aren't showing they love you, they'll show you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
