So, for my first article I will write about something that is dear to my heart. Over the years, I have looked for something to create this beautiful feeling in my mind and body. I wanted to find something that worked, and that did not involve taking shots of Tequila. Alcohol was always an easy way to change my mood, however it was too easy. I could feel that it was something that was not right for me. I would abuse that feeling and end up making decisions that I truly did not want to make. At the same time, I did love the feeling it gave me. I knew I wanted to find a way to achieve that feeling of power and pleasure again. When I began my journey of self-help, I thought it would be impossible to find that kind of pleasure again. However, when I came across the research and facts about mediation, I thought I should give it a try. I thought it was ironic because some teachers had specific instructions on how to properly meditate, and some had taught that there was no wrong way to meditate. I began to look on YouTube for just some short mediation music that I could try everyday. I found this cute little 21-minute mediation video that really caught my attention. I began to try it out. At first, it was painful. It was actually painful. I wanted to move, or to itch my face, but I knew that would ruin the point of just sitting and doing nothing. It took me about one month to finally be able to sit and just breath in and out. It is a surreal feeling and trying to explain something that sounds so simple is difficult. I eventually got to a point where I could feel my entire body relaxing, but I did not want to go to sleep. I would start to see these images in my mind, sometimes they were beautiful, and sometimes not so much. It got to a point where I would look forward to my meditation time. I do not fully understand the science behind mediation quite yet. All that I do know is what meditation has done for me. It has created an OK feeling in my heart. I am not quite sure what that means yet. I do know that the feelings of power and joy are flowing through my veins more often. I do not know if mediation has done that for me, but I do not know where would I be without it. I do know that it relaxes my body, and it can kind of trip me out sometimes. As time goes on, I will do much more research and figure out what is actually happening in my head at the time. If I could compare it to something, it would be to dancing. When you are dancing, you are just focusing on what you are feeling and how you are moving. When you are meditating, you should just focus on breathing in and out, and the feelings come and go. It is really a beautiful thing when it comes down to it. You should try it, expand your mind, learn to discipline yourself.
