Some people like rainy days and prefer rainy days over sunny days, as the rain hitting the window can be very relaxing. Some people hate rainy days, and see the only positive of rainy weather as days that are required to keep the grass and trees green. I fall under the second category.
Whenever it pours, I adopt a mentality that can only be described as a "rainy ways" mind set. I stay inside, get in my warm pajamas, and read a book. Several books, even multiple books because who will stop me? I look outside, at the pouring rain, and am thankful that I can stay inside and stay warm. I might even treat myself to hot chocolate, because why not? I fall under a sleepy spell that I only contribute to constant downpour of rain.
Sometimes I'm not lucky and I get stuck somewhere or I have an appointment and I need to leave the comfort safe-heaven my college dorm provides. Rain and I don't mix at all.
So what does the struggles of having an umbrella look like? Not pretty at all. Are umbrellas really the best invention out there to combat the hardships of Mother Nature?
I am totally for canceling classes in a heavy rainstorm because who wants to tread through pouring rain and rapid wind and the struggles of the umbrella?
Dealing with the hassle of juggling too many things, plus dealing with carrying an umbrella.
Trying to get your dorm keys out, when standing out in the rain. Or any inclement weather really. There in your bag somewhere!
When the rain comes down randomly out of nowhere and you are unprepared, questioning the sky Gods above.
When your umbrella keeps flipping over, it becomes pointless to try to fix it. Then you proceed start a new fashion where strutting a flipped umbrella is the new fashion.
Sometimes, my friends forget their umbrellas and so we have to share. The problem becomes when I have a tall friend and I have to hold the umbrella high for them, and I often get wetter than if I didn't have an umbrella in the first place.
There comes a point where you are wet regardless of how much you try to position the umbrella, as the rain comes down at a weird angle. Who knew that rain could rain down sideways? This it becomes appropriate to begin dancing in the rain, because you are already wet, so whats the dilemma?
So, when it is raining, make sure to have your rain gear. That means a sturdy umbrella, a cute set or rain boots, and a poncho. My college campus is built on such a way that it seems to be slanted upwards on a hill, so all the rain collects in one area of campus. One can try to combat the rain without any gear, and to those people I wish them good luck and am hopeful that they can find shelter sooner rather than later.
