To many people, it felt like 2015 was out to get them. Whether it was school, work, or personal issues, we made it to 2016. That already proves that you could get through any obstacle thrown your way. We have learned many lessons, so we are all a little wiser. If we can look at 2016 with an "I can do this" attitude, then we have already taken a huge step in the right direction. We should constantly remind ourselves that this can be our year. When it comes to that, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
1. You. You. You.
You are the only one that takes in your experiences for you. You are in charge of what you do, and where you place yourself. If something makes you unhappy or uncomfortable, then it's time to change that. Find what makes you happy and pursue that. By now, what others think of you should not matter. You are doing this for yourself. Eventually, you will find yourself in a place in life that makes you happy to be you.
2. Setting Smaller Goals
Whether you plan to lose weight or get all A's this semester, you should take everything in smaller steps. It'll be easier instead of attacking it with all you got. Take that extra lap around the track and do your work earlier than the night before it's due. Smaller steps will help you attain your big goals, and they will be easier to carry out.
3. Love Life a Little More
Life is a brighter when you can find happiness in the smaller things. Even though there's times that make it hard to love life, you can always look for the silver lining. Wake up knowing that you were given a second chance and fix what you don't like.
You get what you put in, so own this year. Be in charge of what you truly want.
So go out, smile more, and enjoy your 2016.
