A Letter To My Boyfriend For Valentine's Day

Dear you,

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. It's time for couples all over the country to start buying gifts and making special plans for this special day. As wonderful as that all is, I want to do something different this year.

This year, I want to thank you for all that you do for me. There's this huge expectation factor when it comes to Valentine's Day that it feels as though couples don't really get to appreciate the love they have. Well, this year is going to be different for us.

It's about time I thanked you for all you do in our relationship.

Thank you for being my rock.

There are days where it seems like the universe is against me and I all I want to do is crawl under a rock. But you make me stand up and face my problems head on. You're always there for me, whether it's giving me a reality check or wiping my tears away, and I could never thank you enough for that.

Thank you for making me laugh.

You always know what to do to get a good laugh out of me. I believe that you can't have a full life without constant laughter, and I know that with you, I'll always have a full life. Thank you for constantly showing me how fun this life can be.

Thank you for bringing me down to earth.

I'm always worried about the future. I'm so concerned about what's going to happen next that I often don't pay attention to what's happening now. That's where you come in. You teach me how to enjoy what's happening now rather than worry about what's going to happen later. I'm so thankful to have you because you show me the beauty of living life in the present.

Thank you for understanding my hectic schedule.

It's not easy dating someone who is constantly busy from 9 in the morning until 11 at night, but you do it anyway. I love that you understand my goals and that you're willing to put up with spending a lot of limited time together. You're incredibly selfless in this sense, and I'll always admire your ability to make the limited time we spend together the best time of my day.

Thank you for going on random trips with me.

Whether it's a trip to the canal or a trip to the grocery store, you're always down to go on a little adventure with me. Even the shortest time spent with you means the world to me, and it makes me so happy that you join in on even the smallest trips just so we can spend time together.

Thank you for accepting me as I am.

I'm far from perfect. I've got highs and lows, and I fall apart every now and again. I could be at my highest high or my lowest low, and I know you would love me all the same. Thank you for loving all of me no matter what.

Thank you for embracing my weirdness.

I do strange/embarrassing/downright awkward things all the freaking time, but you always embrace those things instead of hiding away in shame. You're a trooper for putting up with my weird voices, strange theories and awkward social interactions on a daily basis. You accept me for who I am, and I will never be able to thank you enough for that.

Thank you for being my best friend.

It's so cliche, but I'm incredibly lucky to have you as my best friend as well as my boyfriend. I'm so happy we have a relationship that was built on the foundation of a friendship and that I can tell you anything. We have a special relationship built on trust, laughter and questionable taste in music, and I wouldn't trade what we have for the world.

May this Valentine's Day be full of laughter, smiles and love. Happy Valentine's Day, hun!

Love,

Me

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
