Being an athlete is tough, especially when it entails early morning or late night practices and sore muscles that make it difficult to get up in the morning. These things can make us question why we put ourselves through it all, but then we have moments that empower us and remind us why we love what we do. Male and female athletes alike are some of the most hardworking individuals; however this one goes out to all my girls because there are certain things that make being a female athlete unique and, quite frankly, we run the world.
1. Fiercely strutting into the competition with your squad
There is nothing like walking by the competition with your matching warmups and looking like you are ready to kick butt and take names.
2. Trying to look intimidating... and succeeding
It's not hard to look intimidating when your whole squad is ready dominate. Eye black always works, too.
3. Making the perfect pre-wrap headband
It is a struggle, indeed. Once you have mastered the technique of using just the right amount so that it isn't too tight or too lose, you are golden. But if you get it stuck on your earrings and rip it, then game over.
4. Adding to the spandex collection
The Nike Pro addiction is real.
5. Proving people wrong
People will doubt you and you may even doubt yourself, but we can always do more than we think. And proving those who have doubted you wrong is the most satisfying accomplishment.
6. Winning with your team
You and your teammates have spent countless hours putting in hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. So when you win, it is the best feeling in the world. Not to mention, you get to celebrate with endless music and food on the bus ride home.
7. Finding your glass slipper
Whether it is a cleat or a trainer, finding the perfect fit is very crucial.
8. Taking embarrassing action shotsThere are way too many to count and way too many untagged photos on Facebook that we hope no one ever finds. They sometimes make us question our athletic abilities.
9. Taking a rare action shot that actually looks athletic
It's a good day when you find that rare gem to remind you that are actually are an athlete.
10. Finding your best friends
The great thing about sports is that it brings together people that already have similar interests to create bonds that you cannot find anywhere else.
11. Finding your favorite sports bra
Every female athlete had that one sports bra designated for competition day.
12. Showing up the male athletes
It doesn't matter who you are. All it takes is hard work and determination.
13. Eating like a teenage boy
The next time you have an 8 a.m., just remember, who run the world?
