No one likes global warming. Just look at how devastated the world was when a false obituary for the Great Barrier Reef went viral. I mean seriously, our bucket list items might not even be possible in the next few years. This is a wake-up call if ever there was one for those that don't believe in the more subtle signs of global warming. So, let's say you're still not into the whole environment conservation "fad." For the sake of argument, pretend that conservation is actually important. Here are a few things you can do WITHOUT ANY EFFORT to help save the world (assuming it needs saving. But if not, no harm done!).
1. Turn off your lights
This is so easy that my cat can do it. I kid you not. It will take you a negligent amount of time to turn off your lights when you leave a room and you get the added benefit of playing superhero since you're doing your part to save the Earth! Not to mention, it'll save you money.
2. Turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth
This is another great money saving trick. Save water by turning off the faucet when you brush your teeth. Believe it or not, we only have so much freshwater and our resources are rapidly shrinking. So not only is it great for your wallet, but it also takes no extra time since you can do it WHILE brushing your teeth!
3. Eat all the food on your plate

Maybe this one does take some effort, but are you really going to complain about me telling you that you SHOULD eat more?
4. If you go number 1, save a flush
This may gross out some people but if all you're doing in there is peeing, why not save ~6 liters of water and preserve your effort! Again, saves you effort, saves your water bill, and saves the planet. But if you're pooping, please do flush. Please.
5. Shop online
Again, this is less effort than normal! Save energy and carbon dioxide emissions while treating yourself or just buying something you already need.
6. Save food and eat leftovers
Look at all this effort I'm saving you. Forget cooking another meal, just save any leftover food you have. You're reducing your waste and the time and energy you spend on cooking or eating out. (You're welcome)
7. Reuse takeout containers, glassware, etc.
This is another money saving technique as you'll be able to save on the price of Tupperware! Also, try to save any glassware that you get with your jam/jelly/marmalade/wine/beer or anything else that comes in glass. Not only will it make a lovely aesthetic addition to your residence, but glass takes AGES to decompose so you're doing the planet a favor.
8. Program your thermostat
Yet another money saver. Program your thermostat so that it's on when you need the heat or the air and it's off when you don't. No more worrying about forgetting to turn it off or adjusting it every day.
9. Skip out on meat every now and then
Look I'm not saying you need to vegan or be a vegetarian for life. But even passing up that burger once in a while saves literally thousands of gallons of water and saves forest area that was used to raise that cow to make your burger.
10. Unplug your laptop, phone charger, etc.
You know we're always trying to save electricity. Just take that extra fraction of a second to pull the plug and you'll be golden. This is just a pinch more effort but it also saves you money!
11. Turn OFF your computer/laptop when you're done. All the way off.
Same story as above. It's energy saving meaning its good for the environment and your laptop/computer.
12. Wash your clothes in cold water
This one just takes the push of a button. It provides a lot of other benefits too, like your clothes will be a lot less likely to shrink and the colors won't bleed, so you could even do less laundry than normal.
13. Just use one less paper napkin or tissues than you think you need

Think about all the napkins and tissues you use. Now think about how many other people use the same amount of napkins and tissues. If we all saved one, that's billions less paper wasted each year.
14. Use cruise control where you can

Have you noticed how nearly every option on here saves you money? Just think of all the money you'll save on gas! And all the effort you save easing off the gas pedal.
15. Get your car washed by a pro
Maybe not a money saver but definitely an effort saver. Why is this better for the environment? These guys use way less water.
16. Get cotton swabs with paperboard spindles

This is something you might never have even thought about before, but all those cotton swabs made with all that plastic equals a lot of petroleum use. So next time you're out of you ear-pickers, just buy ones made with paperboard instead of plastic. Simple little things can make you a superhero.
