Dating In College

In today's hook up culture of "no strings attached", "Netflix & chill", and "friends with benefits" it can be hard to remember that there are people who actually somehow make it to the dating stage. Crazy right? Dating in college is unlike dating during any other time in your life. You have to work with crazy parties, slutty girls moving in on your man, constantly being with each other, balancing your friends with him and more. But of course there are amazing things that come with dating in college including: having a built in best friend that is always there for you, knowing they are max ten minutes from you at all times, going out with each other during the most fun time of your life, and having them along on your journey to figuring out your life. College is the ultimate test of your relationship and if you can survive all of this you can make it through just about anything.

Con: We're in college so there are bound to be some slutty girls that are eyeing your man. Naturally you get jealous and go into fight mode at even the slightest contact he makes with a girl you don't know. It's especially awkward if you happen to be right there.

Pro: It is hard to see a pro in this situation, however if you are really jealous it shows just how much you really like him.

Con: Wild parties are also a part of college, they're practically unavoidable. So get ready to see your sweetie pie turn in to a hot mess every once in awhile. Take the back seat on those nights and let your significant other let their freak flag fly and know next time it'll be your turn.

Pro: There is always someone to hold your hair back on those rare occasions when you're not feeling too hot, and someone to dance with when you're feeling super hot.

Con: When you get a boyfriend your friends could potentially be a little annoyed. They just want you all to themselves, but this is easily solved by making sure you make time for both of them. You need your ladies and your ladies need you, these are facts. Hoes over bros.

Pro: By having a boyfriend you basically double the size of your friend group. You and your man can even scheme to pair up your friends with his. It's a win win win.

Con: Believe it or not it is actually possible to see too much of your significant other. Just because you live under ten minutes from each other does no mean you need to do everything together. It is healthy to have time a part. Couples who are always together in the gym, dining hall, library, and at the bar I'm looking at you.

Pro: Having your boyfriend live nearby means he is there whenever you need him. He is there within ten minutes for every flat tire, mental breakdown, and emergency Netflix session.

Con: While dating you assume you're never going to break up and you will live the rest of your life in a happy blissful bubble. This is not reality people. So when you begin to plan for the future it is tough to decide how to see yourself without them by your side. College is the time that you learn about yourself and try to somewhat plan your future. You cannot plan your future around someone else so early in your life.

Pro: Your significant other can play a big role in helping you find yourself and build your confidence. They act as your rock and help you do things you may not have thought you could do on your own. And when you don't know what to do with your life and you are so stressed out he will be there with a smirk, a hug, and hopefully chocolate.

Overall, your college years are some of the most important and exciting years of your life. It is a blessing to have someone you love by your side for the journey. The pros for sure outweigh the tiny cons and if he is truly your best friend you will be able to work out the cons and focus on the pros.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
