Within the past three weeks, I have had a realization. I'm a coffee addict. Funny enough, I'm drinking a cup of coffee with french vanilla creamer as I type this. Now I know what you're thinking, "Is being a coffee addict really that bad?" I had the same thought. So, I decided to make a pros and cons list of what it is like to have an addiction to this glorious drink.

Pro: The smell of coffee
My favorite thing about being a coffee addict is the smell that comes with the cup of joy that I have ordered. Not only does the coffee smell amazing but the bakery smell is just as equally beautiful.
Con: The insane headaches
The worst headaches anyone will ever have in their entire life are the headaches you get if you don’t fill your coffee addiction. And the headache doesn't end until you've had at least a full cup in your system.
Pro: The environment of a coffee shop
How many of you coffee addicts have spent hours in coffee shops? One of my favorite things about having a coffee addiction is the new places I find when I’m on the hunt for a fresh cup and the environment that surrounds it. Everyone is so into what they’re doing and the music that is played… It’s impossible to not be in a positive mindset while getting coffee. It should be a law that you have to drink your coffee with a smile.
Con: Money
Coffee is one of the most expensive things in my life. Starbucks is one of the main reasons my bank account laughs at me every day. Especially being on a campus where there are several Starbucks locations and we all know how expensive Starbucks can be. But when they call out your name to say your coffee is ready, you forget all about the price.
Pro: Black coffee is healthy!
Okay you health freaks reading this. Coffee can be super healthy and help you lose weight but only if you drink it black and the blacker it is the healthier it is. Personally, I’ve never been one to be able to withstand the taste of black coffee and I’ve always been a sucker for a little flavor. But this pro is to reassure my fellow addicts.
Con: One cup just isn’t enough to get through the day
As a coffee addict, I realized that once I’m done with just one cup… I need at least three more to get me through the day. It’s 8:30 in the morning and the medium coffee I just finished? Not going to cut it.
Pro: Coffee is everyone’s best friend
In college, there are so many long nights of nothing but studying. So what’s the pro of that? COFFEE. What do you need to wake you up to push you to study for that exam? COFFEE. Honestly, coffee is just the answer to everything, let's be realistic here.
Con: Your friends.
There is just one thing that can come between you and your coffee. Your friends. They “claim” that you have a problem, that you should really cut back on the coffee, but us fellow coffee addicts know… You’re not doing any harm! Keep drinking that Venti cup of happiness and if you want a second one? Get it. You deserve all the coffee in the world.

I'm really not seeing the problem here with a coffee addiction. Sure, my bank account laughs at me every time I swipe my card at Starbucks but let's be honest... It makes us happy, it relaxes us. So for all the cynical coffee haters out there, drink a cup of coffee every now and then and get off our cases.
