"Prison Break" was suggested for me to watch quite a while ago and I’ve finally indulged by watching it. To my surprise, the four-season show has actually grabbed my attention and taught me a few things. Who would guess that a fictional show about prison would intrigue me? "Prison Break" may seem like the average story about inmates in prison but there really are some life lessons at hand and here are a few that have spiked my interest.
1. “Just have a little faith.” - Michael Scofield
This is a quote secretly meaning much more to the two brothers, Lincoln and Michael, but also a quote that everyone should live by. Having a little faith when times get rough really help and keep a person moving forward with a little bit more positivity. Lincoln and Michael set this tone of a very loving and caring family by having each others’ backs and reminding each other that even though it may seem bad, just have a little faith.
2. “Be the change you want to see in the world.” - Michael Scofield
This one comes from Michael to Sara, and is something she believes in herself. There’s an episode in the first season, I believe, where Sara has a flashback to when she used to steal drugs or morphine to get a high with her boyfriend at the time. During one of her highs she sees someone get run over, she approaches, and a woman notices her doctor badge. Sara kind of freaks out and has a bit of an emotional breakdown that scares her. From that moment on she gets help, gets clean, and decides to take a job where she can help people deal with what she did; she wanted to be the change that the world needed. To be honest, it’s a very adorable moment shared by the two but it’s very true in the concept for everyone in the world today.
3. The bond of love can make you do crazy things.
This is the main story behind Prison Break. Michael’s love for his brother, Lincoln, sends him on a rampage to create an insane plan to break his brother and himself out of Fox River prison. Michael also unexpectedly falls in love with Sara. Originally his plan was to just play her so he could get Lincoln out, but love came creeping up at his door. When Sara is in need of help, Michael is there to rescue her.
4. Some people are as creepy and disgusting as they seem.
First time I saw “T-Bag” in Prison Break I knew he was a true creep. Come to find out, I was right. The guy raped and sexually assaulted people. I still hate that he wiggled his way into the escape plan; they could have been 100 percent better off without him. Even with saying that, don’t judge people by how they look, just be careful.
5. “He may run this place during the day, but I run it during the night.” - Brad Bellick
Some officers of any nature may be as crooked as they come. Bellick, Mahone, and Kellerman are a few prime examples. Lately, in society we have been dealing with a lot of police brutality incidents that didn’t need to occur and "Prison Break" is showing a truth that some people know all too well.
