On May 24, the Queen hosted another one of her ever-elegant summer garden parties. However, something wasn't quite right when news broke out about it. People weren't focused on how poised the queen looks in her old age. They were not focused on the tasty British treats that were munched on by beautiful British people. And they sure were not focused on the mix matched, questionable outfit choices and hilariously un-royal candid facial expressions of both Princess Beatrice and Eugenie (although they really should have). Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was in the spotlight yet again. Her perfected royal posture and elegant smile were snapped right up when .. . The thing is, nobody reported on how she acted like the true queen she is, or who she mingled with and the conversations that she had. Yet again, the spotlight was focused solely on what Kate wore - specifically, what outfit Kate wore, yet again.
As she delicately walked amongst garden party-goers that afternoon, Kate glowed in her cream colored dress with a single ruffle draped across the front of her dress, starting at her shoulder and cascading down to the opposite hip. It didn't turn heads because it was beautiful, although it should have, it turned heads because the dress had already seen the light. God forbid Kate Middleton recycles an outfit. The stunningly delicate Alexander McQueen outfit was topped off with a Jane Taylor bonnet and nude heels, creating the exact same look that was first debuted for Prince George's christening back in 2013.
This, however, is not the first time that Kate has re-worn the same pieces, including elegant evening gowns and basic black long coats. The princess wears Zara, for heavens sake! Iconic looks have been recycled, and yet, even after all the years in-between the looks, they still give off the same effect. Although the recycled outfit pieces remind us all that Kate really is one of us, it then quickly turns into a funny little thought, when we are brought back to reality and realize, that in fact, Kate is nothing like us. She is more like the genetically perfect human being that we all aspire to be.
People forget to remember that although they are the royal family, there is a budget for wardrobes. This budget, according to Forbes back in 2012, was around $54,000. After all - it pays to be pretty.
Just goes to show that Kate is absolutely timeless. And outfits and pieces that she wore years ago are still very much revenant, beautiful, and striking, years later.
