Pride vs. Submission: Putting Our Trust In Christ

If we as Christians aren't trusting our entire lives to Christ, why did He die in the first place?

Pride vs. Submission: Putting Our Trust In Christ
Mission: Oneness

Have you ever done a trust fall with one of your friends or someone else you know? How long did it take you to actually do it? In my case, I have several issues in trusting someone when it comes to a trust fall. I have no idea why, but it takes me approximately five minutes to actually fall and put my trust into someone else's hands (quite literally).

How often do you trust someone you know with your secrets, love, or practically your entire life? There are many people in my life that I trust with all of my heart, because time and time again they have proved to be faithful in helping me in my struggles and not casting judgement upon me when I have done something wrong against them. If I had to guess, you probably have those people in your life as well, but how often do we put our trust in Jesus in the same way, or greater than the trust we give to important people in our lives?

As children of God, we are called to put our entire lives into His hands. We're not called to trust Him with only certain parts of our day to day lives, but with everything that we have. For me, this was, and sometimes still is, a hard concept to grasp. I sometimes think to myself, "You mean, everything?" Yes, everything from your relationships, school, job, hobbies, struggles, etc. is to be handed over to Christ because He will never fail you! No matter how many times people have proved themselves faithful to you, at some point, they will fail you, but Christ never will. I know that putting your full trust in Christ seems extremely difficult, and it more than likely will be for the rest of your life, but I promise you that there is no greater feeling that having the weight of your burdens lifted off of your shoulders because you gave it all to Christ.

Think about the incredible trust that Abraham had in God. Abraham and his wife waited 25 years for the child that God had promised He would give to them. He delivered, but God also tested Abraham's faith further. In Genesis 22, God tells Abraham to sacrifice his only son, the son he and his wife had longed for for so long. Without hesitation, Abraham prepared to do exactly what God had told him to do. However, just before Abraham was about to fulfill the sacrifice, God provided him with a ram to sacrifice instead because Abraham proved his faithfulness and trust in the Lord. What would you do if God asked you to do something this difficult?

Way too often we let our pride get in the way of submission to Christ. However, consider this question: if we don't put our full trust and faith in Him, why did He even die in the first place? If we are not allowing God to work in our lives, how to we expect to receive the blessings and great promises He has given to us? Jesus died for us so that we can not only gain salvation, but also so that we can experience His many great blessings!

Give every part of your life to Christ. Give Him your love, joy, struggles, sadness, relationships, anxieties, school, job, etc. and He will never fail you. God works in mysterious ways, and often He works in ways we never would have expected Him to. He is glorious! Rejoice in His wonderful love for you! Accept that He loved you so much that He died for you, and in return of His sacrifice, give Christ your full love and trust! You will be amazed at the astonishing ways He will provide for your life, and it will always be when you are least expecting it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
