16 Ways You Know You’re An Athlete At Lake Forest College
Lake Forest College

Pride, spirit and a tradition of excellence are at the core of athletics at Lake Forest College. They’re a big part of campus life: more than 60 percent of students here participate in varsity, intramural or club sports, and home games are filled with fans from campus and the surrounding community.” For a Division 3 school, we love our sports. There’s just nothing quite like forester athletics.

1. Introducing yourself by name and sport

With more than 60 percent of students being athletes here at the college, we all know it’s pretty common to introduce yourself by not only name but the sport in which you play as well.

2. Each sports team has their own table in the caf

It might seem a little caddy, however, we just can’t seem to get enough of spending time with our teammate and often times gravitate towards one another in the caf.

3. You attend every sporting event

With such a large pool of student-athletes on campus, sports teams tend to support other teams by attending their home competitions.

4. And hard core chirp all the other teams

Apologies to all the other teams who compete in the Midwest conference but we love our foresters.

5. Your not offended when die league might be taken more seriously than your varsity sport

Let’s be honest we take our die very seriously.

6. However, we all know the struggle of being dry during season

Rather it’s 24 hours, 48 hours, or an entire season depending on sport, we all know the struggle.

7. When football wins a game and campus burns to the ground

Our football team may not have the best record, however, when we do win, our boys sure do know how to celebrate.

8. If you don’t know someone chances are there a NARP

With over half of our school being involved in athletics, it’s easy to assume that everyone’s an athlete.

9. We’re a D3 school with D1 handball team

How did this happen?

10. Which is the whiniest team on campus yet no one cares

With 50 collegiate national championships, one would think it would be the talk of the school however, it’s just another part of forester athletics.

11. Everyone knows G-bo. The man, the myth, the legend

Our athletic trainer is better than yours.

12. You know the struggle of morning workouts in offseason

Nothing like an early morning run…until it consists of endless sprints, burpees, and lifting.

13. And then the struggle of going straight to class sweaty

8AM class no worries you’ll be out of here by 7:50 just complete these sprints real quick before you sprint off to class.

14. Our stats realistically mean nothing yet we’re constantly checking them

Goforesters.com is most likely in our top searches.

15. Every athlete knows that traveling to Iowa sucks

Rather it’s Grinnell, or Cornell, nothing about that trip screams fun, not even the “world’s largest truck stop”.

16. Last practice is the best practice

It’s the practice we all look forward to. It’s a time to be idiots and reflect and celebrate all that we’ve accomplished over the season without beloved teammates.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
