Pretty Pretty Prom Girl

Dress ideas for this year's prom.

"Here comes the bride" isn't quite here yet, but us girls have plenty of opportunities to get all dolled up for a night of our dreams. Prom was one of my favorite things I experienced in High School, and I wish so badly I could do it again. Luckily, my next "Here comes the bride" moment will be when I'm walking down the aisle!

Prom isn't for another few months yet, but if you are anything like I was, you have been looking since September. It's always a "race" to find the perfect, most elegant looking dress. I wanted to supply High School girls with a few ideas so they don't feel so stressed out if they decide to procrastinate until the week before. When I went to prom, two-piece dresses were just becoming noticed, sparkles were "in," and the more skin, the better, but I'm more, modest I guess you could say.

Beading Tiers Ballgown

I absolutely LOVE this style of a dress. I think the tiers really give the dress definition. Everyone that loves dancing knows straps are not necessarily cute, but super important when it comes to shakin' it all night long. Purple isn't the worst of colors either.

Sheri Hill Satin

Let me just begin by saying I think this pattern is absolutely heinous. The style however, is very elegant looking. Straps, again, are very helpful with dancing. The slimming waistline helps the "princess" skirt pop out.

Fitted Strapless Mermaid

This dress is probably one of my favorite styles. I believe the fitted style dress has potential to fit everyone nicely. The mermaid style accent towards the bottom balances out the fitted-feel so you're not walking around like a penguin all night.

Peek-A-Boo Gown

If you're not into a full two-piece, or strapless gown, there is an alternative for you. This peek-a-boo style dress offers both a modest, and sexy feel to it.

Sleeved Gown

Sleeves have snuck their way back into the hearts of dress-wearers, but I'm not sure which type of "sleeve" is most attractive for me.

First, there is the full sleeve:

Second, there is the t-shirt style sleeve:

Third, there is a see through sleeve:

And fourth, the drop sleeve:

Open Back

The key-hole back gives a very "old-fashioned" look.

Hopefully I've given you a few optional ideas to wear this year for prom. Now all you have to worry about is the color, shoes, jewelery, flowers, a date and every other small worry that goes through your head prior to prom. Good thing I took care of one worry huh?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
