Presidential Candidates Revisited As Nicktoons

Because all the candidates deserve to be slimed.

As someone who only becomes interested in politics during an election year, imagining the presidential candidates as some of my favorite cartoons growing up makes everything better.

1. Hillary Clinton as Tommy Pickles from Rugrats

A natural born leader, guiding the babies through their wacky adventures (in Rugrats in Paris, they almost destroyed Notre-Dame), Tommy Pickles is definitely Hilary Clinton. The face and establishment of Nickelodeon the way she's the face and establishment of the modern Democratic party, I wonder if she has a trusty screwdriver around her neck. A Hillary's gotta do, what a Hillary's gotta do.

Honorable Mention: Charlotte Pickles, Angelica's headstrong CEO mother (admit it, we all wish we had a Johnathan).

2. Bernie Sanders as Arnold from Hey Arnold

I was originally going to say Arnold's grandpa, Phil, for the obvious reason, but Arnold is the friend that we have that is constantly looking on the bright side, just like Bernie. He won't stop his campaign despite the lead that Hillary holds and he does the right thing by not taking endorsements from billionaires and oil companies. These statements are not an endorsement.

Honorable Mention: Eliza Thornberry, our favorite animal taking girl who gets to travel all over the world (jealous). They both have a dedication to the environment.

3. Marco Rubio as Blake Gripling from As Told by Ginger

You know that person that's really snotty and difficult to be around but they want to be your friend, that's Blake Gripling and Marco Rubio. The youngest candidate running, he didn't skip two grades like Blake and he realizes money won't buy Carl and Hoodsey as friends. Don't worry Little Marco, there's always your butler Winston.

Honorable Mention: Dodie Bishop, that friend that constantly stabs you in the back but you are still friends because (there are no reasons it's just because).

4. Ted Cruz as Squidward Tentacles from SpongeBob SquarePants

SpongeBob's cranky, elitist neighbor, this is Ted Cruz if Donald Trump is SpongeBob (don't worry he's coming up soon). Trying to prove he is the right candidate in a party that is already like a circus, isn't that like asking someone what's the best way to die, they are going to die anyway..

Honorable Mention: Cat from CatDog, my least favorite Nicktoon

5. John Kasich as Doug Funnie from Doug

No offense to John Kasich, but I always forget that he's still in the race. He's just as bland as Doug, were everyone else around him is so captivating, in a trainwreck kind of way. No wonder Doug ended up on Disney.

Honorable Mention: I forgot to think of one, oops!

6. Donald Trump as Eugene Krabs from SpongeBob SquarePants

This candidate is already a cartoon character but not a good one. Saying that he is SpongeBob's money hungry boss, Mr. Krabs is an insult. There is nothing else bad about him that I can say (watch John Oliver's epic rant). Don't vote for him, all he cares about is power and money, just like Mr. Krabs.

Honorable Mention: Angelica Pickles, they both have lovely golden locks (or I think Trump's locks are golden).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
