Chances are, if you're in college these days, you grew up watching Nickelodeon in the 90s. All of us 90s kids are affectionately referred to as "millennials" and we'll be playing an important role in the upcoming presidential primaries — ultimately in the presidential election, come November. Given the difficulty of truly understanding the candidates, as a result of the over-saturation of the media, I've taken the liberty of simplifying each candidate by comparing them to lovable cartoon characters from the 90s. A caveat, of course, is that all cartoon characters were written to have at least a few redeeming qualities — but you could certainly argue that not all the presidential candidates are particularly lovable, this year. Anyhow, feel free to let your appreciation for 90s cartoons influence your vote in 2016!
Hilary Clinton — Angelica Pickles
The Clinton name is as famous in the realm of politics as the Pickles name was within the world of cartoon television in the 1990s. Though both Hilary and Angelica put on smiles from time to time, attempting to endear themselves to at least 51% of the people around them, it's hard to forgive them for what many people believe is an innate propensity for hypocrisy.
Ted Cruz — Stinky Peterson
Both individuals are known for their lack of Southern charm, despite being unabashedly Southern. Also, they both just look kind of creepy.
Donald Trump — Mr. Krabs
Unapologetically selfish individuals, it's all about money and power for these two slimy business moguls.
Bernie Sanders — Lou Pickles
Bernie and Lou are both lovable old men and are living embodiments of consistency. Much in the same way Bernie speaks to the hearts of millennials across the country despite being so old, Lou Pickles provides unwavering support for the little Rugrats throughout the entirety of his cartoon existence.
