When you first embark on your academic journey for the year, you are always so delighted that you don't have to go back to school until September when all your friends moved out over a month earlier. But no one tells you that there are some serious consequences of this. If you start that late, you will have to make up the time some way. But how? Well, the truth is brutal and the fact is you will have to remain in school until June! I know what you're thinking and I am sure you are devastated because it really is as bad as it sounds.
Around the first weekend in May, you just want to delete all your social media because it is filled with all your friends hanging out with each other and doing fun things. You, of course, have just completed midterms and are most likely crying away the pain of that bad grade -- while all your friends are going out overnight without a care in the world.
Of course, you can't go home to see anyone, because here on the quarter system if you miss even just a single lecture, you are screwed for the remainder of the quarter. This is something your friends won't understand because their classes last longer than two months. Attendance isn't an issue for them, and they have more than two exams to determine their grades for the class.
You aren't worried, though, because you are a FOMO veteran -- due to the lovely quarter system you're almost never able to see your friends. That's right, none of your breaks will line up. Want to go away with the old crew for spring break? Good luck, they will always be off a week earlier than those of us stuck in these backwards schools.
When we are finally reunited with our friends and family in the summer, it is short-lived until they move back at the end of July or beginning of August. You are then filled with mixed emotions -- of course, you miss them dearly, but at the same time you are experiencing a feeling of "ha ha, I'm still on summer break and you're taking exams." With that being said, you are not as concerned with going back to school so late. Until the FOMO sets in around May, that is.
