Predicting The Entire 2017 Warped Tour Lineup

What bands will we see taking on the summer's traveling concert this year?

Sitting in my dorm room avoiding the cold weather reminds me that we are now at the beginning of the new year, which means that the countdown to Warped Tour can now begin. Am I too old to still care about Warped at eighteen years old? I do not know, I do not care, and I do not think so.

This summer's festivities will be my fifth consecutive year going to the tour, and the last four years have all gone down as some of the most memorable days of each respective calendar year. I would even go as far as to say that those four days have combined to be some of the best days of my high school career. Now, Warped Tour will become a consolation prize for surviving (and thriving) in my first year of college. And because I am sitting here dreaming of warmer weather and all of the adrenaline packed into that ten-hour day, I decided to compile my predictions for who we can expect to see taking over a city near you this summer.

It is hard to say when Kevin Lyman will decide to announce the official lineup, as this information's release has been constantly changing. For 2014's lineup, Kevin Lyman would list five to six bands per week at the end of each episode of Warped Roadies (speaking of which, petition to bring that show back!) from December to March. In 2015, BryanStars uploaded a video every week to YouTube in a similar style and time period. Last year, Lyman chose to wait until March and ultimately release the entire lineup with emcees 3OH!3 and a concert set up where after each band's short set was over, Lyman and 3OH!3 would come out and announce a full stage's lineup. It seems as though we may be headed for something similar this year, so now is the time to make these predictions. I will be using the stage names from last year- even though they often change- because there is no reason to predict new stage names.

BONUS: Experimental Stage

Every now and again, Warped Tour will add an additional stage off to the side as an experiment to see if it sticks and is worth bringing back. There have been a few instances of an Acoustic Basement tent, and most recently there was the stand-up comedy stage. The acoustic experiment ended mostly in success, especially with the crossover possibilities as bigger bands that were playing main stages would make surprise appearances and play short acoustic sets. The stand-up comedy tent, however, flopped and was deemed a waste of time by most that attended the tour. This year, expect another stage like these. I personally believe that it will be a stage centered around spoken word artists. Maybe I am biased because of the fact that I would love to one day perform my own spoken word project in front of a small Warped Tour crowd, but I also believe that spoken word artists have been gaining significant momentum. This stage could have varying success based on each town's local scene and support of their own local spoken word artists, but why not give it a try? They gave stand-up comedy at Warped Tour a try.

Experimental Stage Artists: Hotel Books, Flatsound, Defeater, Levi the Poet, Pianos Become The Teeth, Teen Suicide, Elvis Depressedly, To Speak Of Wolves, varying local artists for each town

Full Sail University Stage

The Full Sail University Stage was dedicated to bands in the scene that have gained a following but not broken out quite yet. The stage was intended to give these bands their opportunity to catch people's attention and climb the ranks of the scene. Bands like Broadside and Silent Planet excellently grabbed this brass ring, as both bands have broken out in their respective genres and Silent Planet has even earned themselves a headlining tour that will be starting up next month (tickets). We will be seeing quite a few of the listed bands on tours this Spring, but that should not stop them from hopping on the road with Kevin Lyman and co. in the Summer.

Full Sail University Stage Bands: VISTA, Broadside, Don Broco, With Confidence, Milk Teeth, Hey Violet, PWR BTTM, Knocked Loose, Trash Boat, Microwave, Dangerkids, Invent Animate, Palisades, Like Pacific, Movements, Fidlar, SWMRS, Big Jesus, Homesafe

Monster Energy Party Zone (North & South Stages)

Possibly one of the best decisions Kevin Lyman has made with Warped Tour this decade was the choice he made last year to put heavier music all in one place for the fans who wanted to mosh and go crazy all day to have a stomping ground. Bands like Every Time I Die, The Word Alive, Vanna, and Gideon all took to the Monster Energy stages for the Summer and left people battered, bruised, and ecstatic day after day. This pair of stages is meant for people who do not want to wait through bands outside their genre at one of the main stages to see the band they came to see. While Warped Tour is about branching out and finding new music throughout your day of seeing your favorite bands, some people prefer not to, others prefer to find new bands within their genre. All of that is okay, and that is why the Monster Energy Party Zone was redesigned to be all about heavy music. Expect these two stages to pack a punch again this year, and expect to see some faces that have been missing from the tour for a few years now. It is also safe to say there will be some returning bands both from the Monster stages and from the Full Sail stage that are getting called up for 2017.

Monster Energy Party Zone Bands: Silent Planet, Wage War, Capsize, Counterparts, Architects, Stray From The Path, Being As An Ocean, Comeback Kid, Code Orange, Terror, In Hearts Wake, '68, Trophy Eyes, Born Of Osiris, Cane Hill, Emmure, Fit For A King, The Ghost Inside, Beartooth, The Amity Affliction

Poseidon/Cyclops Stage

I chose to pair these two stages together for the same reason I chose to put the Monster stages together. The Poseidon Stage and Cyclops Stage worked as a unit in 2016, and I expect they will do the same this year. These stages have changed names over the years (some may remember them as the Domo Stage, Tilly's Stage, etc.), but the concept remains the same. Several genres are crossed over on these stages, as bands like Too Close To Touch, Waterparks, Emarosa, and The Interrupters all shared these stages last year. These stages often share the amphitheater portion of the venue the tour is being hosted at, which gives bands that play these stages the opportunity to bring in audiences they otherwise never would have while tired, hot and sweaty kids get out of the sun for a while to eat lunch or just take a break from the crazy summer heat. (That's how I got into The Interrupters last year. They had one of the most genuinely fun sets of the day.)

Poseidon and Cyclops Stage Bands: Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor, Citizen, Basement, Handguns, Hands Like Houses, Seaway, Alvarez Kings, Moose Blood, New Year's Day, Sorority Noise, Title Fight, The Distillers, Get Scared, Mallory Knox, A Skylit Drive, The Big Pink, Deaf Havana, You Me At Six, Avion Roe

Journey's Left Foot Stage

Last year, barring a few exceptions, the main stages were essentially split into the Left Foot having exclusively throwback bands and the Right Foot having exclusively current big name bands. I do not see this year going any differently. All of those throwbacks drew so many people in from an older demographic, and many people who had not gone to Warped Tour in years suddenly had a reason to return. Using last year as a stepping stone into this year, especially with the announcement of the Warped Rewind cruise that will run in the Fall, I would not be surprised to see the same division in the main stages, especially with bands from the Warped Rewind cruise making appearances for the sake of promoting the cruise and trying to sell more tickets to that week long journey. This year's lineup of throwback headliners is going to kill it.

Journey's Left Foot Stage Bands: Bowling For Soup, Hawthorne Heights, Simple Plan, Boys Like Girls, The All-American Rejects, The Starting Line, Cute Is What We Aim For, Goldfinger, Streetlight Manifesto, The Ready Set

Journey's Right Foot Stage

This is the stage that will draw the most people in. The Journey's Right Foot Stage is the stage that has the biggest names of today and of the foreseeable future. Warped Tour is constantly bringing in the bands that everyone wants to go see, and it is safe to say there will be people who are hanging out by this stage all day long. With new albums coming out this year from multiple big name bands who have been missing from the tour for a few years now, this could be one of the biggest main stage lineups to date. Granted, last year was stacked, but this year might find a way to outdo 2016. Only time will tell, but whatever the case may be, expect a set of bands that will easily sell a plethora of tickets to teenagers nationwide who are going to finally get a chance to see their favorites live for the first time.

Journey's Right Foot Stage Bands: The Wonder Years, We Came As Romans, Neck Deep, Pierce The Veil, All Time Low, A Day To Remember, Black Veil Brides, Attila, PVRIS, Falling In Reverse

What do you think about these predictions? Any big names I missed? Sound off in the comments below, and get stoked for Warped Tour 2017!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
