On any given day at any given time, we are subjected to having our moods brought down by the negativity spewed across all forms of social media. You could be having the best day ever and decide to take five minutes out of your day to get on social media -— and boom — mood ruined. The world we live in is a sick and sad place. If we want change we shouldn't ignore it, but that doesn't mean we have to focus on the negativity all the time. In light of all the recent bad news, here's a few super cool things I've come across on the internet recently.
1. Sharkbanz
This is the coolest new invention I've seen in ages. Sharkbanz are bracelets you can wear on your wrist or ankle that repels sharks — yes, you read that right. This is a game changer. Sharkbanz work by sending out a small electrical field that will repel the sharks without causing any harm to them. One video I watched said the bracelets release a signal that irritates "electrically sensitive sacks" in their noses that they use to navigate the ocean, comparable to "shining a bright light in a predator's eyes." How cool is that? It's like bug spray but for sharks. This is a dream come true for all ocean lovers. You can wear more than one to increase your protection. They're stylish, effective, and the best part? They're only 65 dollars. 65 dollars to surf and enjoy the ocean without worrying about getting eaten alive? Sold. No, literally, I'm buying five.

2. The new "Memories" feature by Snapchat
We all hold our breath when one of our favorite social media apps announces a new update that will bring forth significant changes, but this one sounds pretty cool. Basically you can create stories from past snapchats and current ones to create a new snap story stored in your "memories." You can share these with friends by sending them to people individually like a regular snapchat or posting the "memory" to your story. There's even a "for my eyes only" feature, so if you create a memory of you and your significant other to send to them or for your own personal enjoyment, there won't be any accidental sharing of that memory. Thank you for this, Snapchat. Good looking out.
3. A website that contains every single one of your favorite throwbacks
As a diehard lover of throwbacks, and by throwbacks I mean 2008 Lil Wayne and T-Pain, this website is now in my top five all time favorite webpages. You just select the year and it gives you a list of all of the best songs from that year. It has those classic middle school throwback songs you still listen to from time to time like "Buy U A Drank" and "A Milli." Then there are those songs you used to love but completely forgot about, like "What You Got" By Colby O'Donis. That song was my ringtone for all of 7th grade, and I forgot about its existence on this earth until I found this website. Go see for yourself. If you want to go back to the days of Akon featuring on every song, I promise you will not be disappointed.

4. Edible Silverware
Here's another awesome game-changing invention. Why couldn't I inherit some of the brilliance these people have? This is an invention that is so smart yet so common sense, I cannot believe it took our planet until 2016 to come up with this. This edible cutlery is called "Bakeys" and was invented by an Indian company in order to help replace the 120 billion pieces of plastic cutlery used by India each year. This would seriously make an impact on the environment, people.
