Keeping a positive and healthy attitude throughout your day can be a daunting challenge. Work gets you down because you had to stay late and finish that extra assignment. School is a bummer because you were late to class and forgot that your paper on world civilization was due. You have been anxiously waiting on that email for that summer internship you wanted, but all you receive is a “Thanks...but no thanks” in response. Sometimes, it's just not your day!

It's tough being a young adult, but it's even rougher trying to keep a positive attitude through it all. I am a firm believer that positive minds equal positive results, and having an optimistic outlook on your day can really make an impact on a healthy lifestyle. When it seems like nothing is going your way, take a step back, breathe, and try these easy tips to keep on going!

1. Wake Up And Think Of Something Positive

Don't let the first thought of your day start off on a low note! Wake up, see the sun (or the clouds), and say one positive thing to yourself that could possibly happen that day. You are going to ace that test! You are going to excel at work today! You are going to get the part in that show! By sending out positive energy to the universe, you are bound to get some back in return.

2. Be Happy And Confident With Your Work

You did the best you could! You applied yourself 110% and that's all you can do. Being critical of my work is something I always used to beat myself up on, sometimes completely ruining my day. Most don't realize that making mistakes are okay. Even if your work isn't up to your standards at the moment, don't let it be the end all, be all. You are evolving just as much as your talents are. Take it as a learning experience and move up from there.

3. Do A Simple Act Of Kindness

An act of kindness doesn't have to be buying someone a gift or going completely out of your way to add just one more thing on to your busy schedule. Kindness can come from the simplest gestures. Give a compliment to a stranger, let someone merge into your lane, or even pay it forward and buy someone that $3 cup of Starbucks coffee. It doesn't take a lot of effort to pass on the positiveness in your life to someone else. Who knows, maybe their bad day just got a whole lot brighter. I know it'll make yours even more.

4. Do Something That Makes You Relax

If it feels like the universe keeps telling you to stop and listen, take time out of your day to do something for you. Listen to some tunes, go for a run, or even just close your eyes for a few minutes to get in a stable mindset. Everyone needs a release from society to break their personal realities. Nothing is going to get accomplished if you are flustered and negative. Find something that is yours, keep it close at hand, and get yourself back into a calm and motivated thought process.

5. Put Down The Phone Before You Go To Sleep

This is definitely the hardest phase, but the most rewarding in the long run. Why? Because it is the last thing at the end of your day. We are so connected to technology and it can put our minds on overload without even realizing its impact. While you're scrolling through Instagram or Facebook, you see things happening in your own personal worlds that can affect you mentally. We are human. We get jealous, judgmental, and comparative with each other. Instead of staring at your screen before bed, pick up a book or go over that presentation one last time. It'll make your morning positive note just that much higher.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
