Maybe I Have The Soul Of A Grumpy Old Man, But I'm Bitter About Pop Music Culture Today

Not only do I think that the music that makes the top charts today is nothing but garbage, but the entire scene around is absolutely horrible and I'll tell you why.

Maybe I Have The Soul Of A Grumpy Old Man, But I'm Bitter About Pop Music Culture Today

OK, I grew up on classic rock, which stemmed into metal, pop-punk, and emo throughout my younger years and remains true to this day. I'm bitter when it comes to other genres of music because I was bullied a lot for the type of music I listened to in school when I was younger so you can imagine that when I see people decked out in ridiculous clothing for Coachella and getting thousands of likes on Instagram while I get criticized for wearing "too much black" or just people thinking I'm boring for not wearing something extravagant to a concert, you can see why I'm irritated at that.

You have people spending hundreds of dollars just to have the right clothes and makeup to go to a concert or festival, and for what? Just to take pictures of themselves. You can't tell me that you care about the music when you put so much effort into how you look. My ideology at a concert is that it's not about you, it's about the music artists that are performing and they're the center of attention, not you, but apparently we live in a culture that wants to make it all about themselves. When I go to a concert I couldn't care less about what I'm wearing, I'm just there to see a good show.

Additionally, You take these SoundCloud rappers who provide nothing good to the rap scene other than they just have face tattoos and colored hair I bet you they wouldn't even have half of their fame now if they didn't try to change their physical appearance. All this beef that rappers start is complete idiocracy and is only used as a marketing tool to create more popularity for themselves. I'm not hating on all rap, because I understand that there are rappers out there that are real with what they are saying and actually rap about there life struggles and have a good message, but these SoundCloud rappers that repeat the same three lines over and over that these young kids are idolizing are a lot less deserving of their fame than the rappers that are out here trying to spread their good word and create an impact with what they're conveying.

Lastly, the fans of pop music and pop "musicians" are some of the worst people I know. These so-called "stans" concern themselves with every aspect of their idols' life and choose to try and implement themselves into every beef or situation their idol gets into. Take the Beyonce incident at the Warriors' game for instance. Why should I care that another woman was talking to Jay-Z and Beyonce looked displeased with that? Who cares? It doesn't affect my life in the slightest and why should I concern myself with something so stupid like that? And there's a ton more I can get into.

Maybe I have the soul of a grumpy old man, but that's just my opinion on today's music culture.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
