Zaman Ali (born 16 January 1993) is a Philosopher born in Pakistan. His book on political philosophy is very influential and defines the reality and the true nature of political process. In "Humanity" he inquires how political process could be better for coming generations. His idea of humanity is very powerful as his idea describe about the better social structure with fulfilling the needs of individuals in society.
“Each thinking mind is a political mind.”
In this quote Zaman explains about the thinking process, that leads towards differences in ideas and eventually create a political process. Because it all begins with thinking and consciousness, that why he writes it well that each thinking mind is political mind.
“It is greed that makes us human as it could be for good or bad.”
In discussion of greed Zaman explains about the human nature relates with having more and more but as Zaman explain it he describes greed as good phenomenon as well as bad. He goes further from good and bad and relates greed with being human, and talks about importance of greed for individual and for society. And he is right about this because greed is necessary for progress in society.
“One can only describe the human but can never define it because humans are complex in their nature.”
As per explains by Zaman in his book, that humans are complex because of their individuality. But because human choose to live in society and they also need to have their individual nature and thoughts, this dual process makes them difficult to describe. And we could define some constant phenomenon, but human individuality always brings change in themselves every movement. That’s why defining the human as general idea is impossible, and when we define each person individually even then the nature of individual is so complex to define so that why there is only different sort of description about humans and may be many are true in them for a second but not permanent.
“Struggle of power is natural in human because with power their individuality prevails over others.”
Because of ideological divide and political process, the need for power become essential for humans not only for personal gain rather it is also needed even more for need of society as one group or part of society wants. And Individuals want power for their superiority so groups want it for their superiority over others and this is how struggle for power is natural in humans.
“Everything is different and nothing is same in the universe.”
The philosophical understanding of this quote is difficult to find out unless we know about what Zaman said about this in his (Humanity) book. Because with this quote he build up idea of human individuality after long explanation of his points and create a whole new idea about the universe.
“Human is what he decides to be.”
This quote is explains everything about human individual in itself, as each human decision impacts on his life and his choices makes him the way he is. As human decision is about what he is in himself.
“Human believe what they want to believe and individual could believe according to his mind that why human never has any agreement on one ideology.”
Human ability to follow his own mind or to use his consciousness for having any idea or to follow any path provide the reasons to believe in anything that he want to believe so that’s why there are a lot of ideologies. And as there are a lot of ideologies and human could follow any one from them, so it is certain that any agreement on particular idea is not possible in human society. And Zaman explains it very well.
“Human ideologies are based on human believe and acceptance of one ideology by all human is not possible as long as each human could find answers about his existence by his own mind.”
Because ideological views relates with human believes and human’s choice between different source of knowledge, that’s why ideological difference is natural in human and there could never be any kind of agreement on this ideological difference, rather the difference will remains, regardless of how much good someone ideology is.
“Humanity prevails over all other ideologies because one accept it or reject it for him but he cannot deny it because it is about him.”
Human ideologies helps humans to have some kind of recognition and this helps him to follow certain path in life but Zaman explains humanity is highest from all ideologies because it belongs to all and no one claim their particular ideology to be greater than idea of humanity. Now one could escape from this because of he could think his ideology is better than others ideologies but he cannot deny humanity, because by denying it he is denying himself.
Zaman relates human purpose with happiness and also specifies that one human’s happiness could be hurtful for others. That’s why He force his ethical views with explaining that each one should need to careful for his actions so his action for his good don’t hurt others.
“From the day to till the day there are two humans living together they were and they will be involves in political process.”
Zaman political philosophical views relates with struggle and never ending political process in which he explains about the need of political process for being human.
“Books have the power to create, destroy or change civilizations.”
Many books change the ways of human’s life, and influences the whole history by providing certain ideas and change the ways of human life so Zaman is right when he said that books could create and destroy human civilizations.
“Hope is human natural right but they have to keep it.”
Zaman links hope with human natural right because it helps human to move forward. By understanding Zaman’s philosophy, it is easy to find out why he relates hope as natural right. As Zaman’s idea of humanity is about well-being of human society and for that reason he focus on individual to always have hope and engage in never ending struggle of becoming better.
“What’s good for individual could be bad for society but what’s good for society that will be good for individual and there is always need to choose what right for society because if it is right for society then it is right for individual.”
This quote explain everything in itself because individuals are part of society and whenever society is having some good then individuals will be in good, but when few individuals will be in good then it is not certain that society will be in good with them because individuals are part of society and many different kind of individuals makes society and not few individuals.
“Good and bad lies within and without one other loses its mean and essence.”
For understanding and realizing the nature of good or bad, we need both of these because if there is only one of these then there is no mean to have it as no one can realize the importance of good, without the feel of anything bad in life.
