Pokémon Madness: The Cultural Impact Of Pokémon On Humanity

If you're out there on your journey to be the very best, please continue to do so the best way you can. Catch, train and battle your way to greatness like one ever was. If you weren't able to pick up on those subtle references, you truly missed out on this timeless gem. For 20 years, Pokémon has dominated the way in which video games are played. Though now a profitable and cherished media franchise, the role-playing aspect will always be the lovable grassroots many have gotten to experience over the years. On July 6, 2016 Australia, New Zealand, and the United States got to feel that same infatuation they've felt like the first time they picked up a Pokémon game.

Pokémon GO is now a human obsession. It has become this perfect blend of nostalgia for the more aged fans and players like myself, and a revolutionary concept fitted for this decade. But what makes this retro entity so addicting in today's age? Is it because it serves as a childhood reminder, or maybe it's because of the cultural acceptance that surrounds the app? All I know is that this game is here to stay. The developers did an exceptional job in releasing certain features of the game with hints of more to come from the Pokémon experience.

The Pokémon world has finally integrated with reality and has done so with grace and great detail. Grown men and women are walking around raiding Poké-Stops on their lunch breaks. Yes, grown folks are out here trying to catch em' all along with the kids. I was at a local park the other day and people are out and about actively searching for these imaginary creatures, as was I. You cannot tell me that you've never imagined going on a Pokémon journey as a kid. Call me nostalgic and lame, but that's still not going to stop me from finding a Magmar. The same attraction the media brand has provided for two decades proves that not only does this technique work on children, but adults too. Since a great deal of people grew up on Pokémon, the game includes the same elements as if you were on a couch playing your game boy.

Overall, if this game were to be summed up in 3 achievements/goals, it would go like this.

1. To get humanity interactive with other humans again. We are now united under one cause and that is to be masters of our own journey. You meet trainers form everywhere and its nice to know that you are not alone in the Poké cause.

2. Integrate a physical element through an app. People are out walking again, making this the biggest surprise in the digital age. Everyday is leg day as a trainer. In order to be the best, you actually have to go outside.

Lastly, 3. The actual interaction with the environment and the type of Pokémon that are presented in the area. In order for this whole craze to work, it had to have realistic components that makes sense in our world, and the game world. For example, more dark and ghost type Pokémon occur at night. It might be too early to tell, but Pokémon GO is the satisfied fulfillment of the hopes and dreams of 90's children.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
