Poetry is like that one friend that just tells you how it is, and we need those people in our lives. Recently I've been filling my news feeds with poets, so here are just a few that hit me in the feels, some that keep me motivated to continue to grow as a person, and a few that I needed to hear.

1. My Generation

R.H. Sin- R.H. Sin is one of my favorite poets who is actually from the town I go to school in (New Brunswick). My friends and I have been talking about our generation a lot and what it's like to be in "love" nowadays. I think Sin really does a good job explaining relationships today.

2. Self Reflection

Nayyirah Waheed- I think everyone wants to be wanted. Sometimes we change ourselves or act a different way to be "liked"-by not only crushes but friends too. But Nayyirah reminds us that at the end of the day you should be worried about if you like who you are.

3. Who am I, to me?

Dream-Jackson- I've accepted the fact that I will never be liked by everyone. Some people view me as kind, some as mean. Some find me fun and some find me annoying. "But who am I, to me?" To me, I'm a work in progress. I'm trying to be a better sister, a better daughter, and a better friend. I'm learning to love without boundaries and trying to give everything my all. So if someone is unable to see that, that's okay because I know that at this moment I'm trying my best.

4. Life is beautiful

Beau Taplin- I heard once that love is so beautiful because of how much heartbreak hurts. This poem reminded me of the last night of summer. I was with one of my best friends at our favorite beach and we laid on the sand and looked at the stars as we heard the oceans crashing and talked about life. These blissful moments are equally beautiful as it is hurtful because you never want the moment to end. What moments or people make you feel that way?

5. To Love

Rupi Kaur- I think with everything going on in the world right now Rupi Kaur reminds us to take life with an open heart and to always love. It's not easy to love- it requires patience, sacrifice, and kindness but that's what makes it so special.

6. You Are Unique

R.H. Sin- In college I feel like half the time we're just trying to find ourselves. Sometimes I feel like I blend in with the masses and it's so hard to stand out. I'm afraid I won't get that job because there's someone better than me. But here's a reminder that every single person has something they can offer to the world and every one has something special in them- you just have to seek it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
