Life is full of ups and downs. It takes us on a wave of emotions, faces us with demons we think we can’t handle. That’s life, it’s unpredictable. There are times when we feel like we can’t pick ourselves up, times where we think the world is ending. Life is hard. There’s no handbook telling us exactly what to do in every situation thrown at us. It can seem unfair, questionable, and makes us feel stuck. I’ve had this thought; this feeling many times caused by a multitude of things from life events, stress, facing the unknown, or grief. There isn’t a cure, but there are steps we can take to make for a better tomorrow. It won’t happen overnight, but it’s a start.

Get the negativity out of your life - good vibes only. If there are people or things in your life that make you feel unhappy get rid of them. Surround yourself with those who make you happy, who challenge you to be a better version of yourself. Push those negative thoughts out of the way to make way for a more positive lifestyle.

Make a to-do list. It's good to see where you are and what you need to do. Having a to-do list is a great way to prioritize. You see what needs to be done right away so you don't drown yourself with a million little things.

Look at the big picture. All of these small bumps in the road are part of the journey. There is a bigger picture in front of you. Be ambitious and know that whatever strides you are making are helping you reach your goal. Realize these goals and chase them.

Accept your mistakes, don’t apologize for them. You’re going to make mistakes it's inevitable. Don’t beat yourself up over them. Take it as constructive criticism and pick out what you can improve on and what needs to change. Like they say, "mistakes are proof that you're trying".

Wake up everyday with a full heart. If you wake up feeling happy it turns into a ripple effect that will carry on throughout the day. Have love and kindness in your heart and share it with others. You can be the one who makes someones day.

Wake up early. Give yourself time to welcome the day. Collect your thoughts, have some breakfast. Waking up in a rush is a sure-fire way to add unnecessary stress to your day.

Stimulate your mind. Go be active or write in a journal. Set aside some time out of your day to organize your thoughts and take a break from the rest of the world. You need this time to revitalize and reflect on your day.

Don’t dwell on the past. The worst thing you can do is live in the past. The past is the past for a reason, and the future awaits. You're holding yourself back by not looking at what's in front of you. We all come from different pasts; good or bad it allowed you to be here, in the present, and you should embrace it.

Be thankful and be grateful. You woke up today didn’t you? You're healthy, you have opportunities, and you have the ability to make yourself great. Others struggle day to day not being as fortunate as us. Always make it a point to express gratitude towards others.

Keep in mind that each day is a new beginning. It is a chance to start fresh regardless of what happened 24 hours ago. No matter how hard life may be at this very moment just know the sun will come up and that is our cue to wake up and take a step forward to plan for a better tomorrow.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
