It’s not always easy living in the same town as your boyfriend or girlfriend, so just imagine it being even harder living miles away from them. However, if you can handle the challenge, it can be very rewarding.
Here are a few reasons why:
When you finally get to see them, it always feels like the first time again.
When you go days and weeks at a time, even months without seeing your significant other, things can get pretty lonely. So, this can get pretty exciting. The longer you go without physically being together, the better it feels when it actually happens!
When they surprise you, it means everything.
You already enjoy their presence so much, so when they show up unexpectedly to surprise you... you can only imagine the initial excitement. It'll definitely leave you speechless and evermore grateful.
It doesn't matter what you do, you always enjoy it anyways.
You don't have to go all out when you're together, you're completely comfortable with never leaving the bed. Whether you decide to spend your day on the couch watching an entire season of Grey's, or maybe you decide to head out to town for a day in the city, it simply doesn't matter. They're general presence is certainly enough for you!
Communication becomes...interesting.
Not only does it get a little more interesting, it becomes a lot more fun. Being that you don't get the chance to physically see each other much, you've probably adapted to FaceTiming and snapchat as another source of communicating. Let's just say these new filters have definitely made an impact on your communication skills.
You learn how to be alone, and how to love it.
It’s not always easy feeling alone and in the dark, and of course there will be times you feel lonely, but you ultimately know that you’re never alone. You learn how to enjoy the time you have to yourself. After all, all healthy couples need time apart to work on improving better themselves.
There’s always something to look forward to!
Whether you’ve made plans to go to a concert, go on a vacation just the two of you, go hiking or to a dinner for two, you’re always excited! Being apart gives you the chance to plan what you will do next when you’re finally together again, and of course, you’re more than thrilled. You’re probably counting down the days too, am I right?
You’ll never lose yourself in a relationship with distance.
Every day I see couples getting too comfortable with their relationship in which they forget that they too need to constantly learn and improve themselves. You’ll never fall into a relationship you can’t escape, this way.
Anything worth having is worth fighting for.
This kind of dating teaches you that though the distance may be many miles or hours away, if it’s real, it’s worth it. Nothing is better than being able to fully trust and know in your heart that the distance means so little when the person means so much. But not only that, if it’s real, it’ll come easy.
Someone is always missing YOU!
What better feeling than to know you’re not being taken for granted because he/she is always thinking, wishing for, and missing you! You forget how much a person effects and influences your life until they’re gone, right? Well distance certainly provides that extra sense of loneliness in which the two of you are constantly reminded of how much you truly miss each other.
You learn one of the hardest things to learn in a relationship. Trust.
You don’t just learn it, you master it. Long distance relationships are built and maintained through your trust for your person and vice versa. Without it, your relationship doesn’t stand a chance. Whether you’re across the street or 3,000 miles apart, you have to have trust.
So, if you find yourself in a long distance relationship and you’re getting too caught up feeling like it’s not all that worth it, think about these things. Think about how mature, strong and true to yourself you’re becoming throughout this experience. You know in the future it won’t always be like this, and you understand that it will be hard at times but that’s what makes it all the more worth it. Fight for your man/woman!
Don’t let the distance end the battle for you! The two of you, can do it.
