Love isn't planned it just happens. When we think of dating someone you picture being with them all the time and being able to go on cute dates like you see people doing every day. Although, you may not have planned for this, you may be involved in a long distance relationship whether it's with your friend or significant other. Long distance surely isn't easy and can be a challenge for anyone, even those who have done it before.
First of all, you don't get to see each other every day or every week like you would like too. But when you do see each other it means so much more than it would if you were to see them every day. Often in life, we take things for granted. The people that lie in front of us - we usually take advantage of and don't realize it until they're gone. When you are finally together it's like meeting them for the first time all over again. You realize how much it means to be with them and don't waste any time because there is no time to be wasted.
If you really love and care about someone, distance means nothing. Even if your relationship doesn't work out it's still a great learning experience. You may not have realized it, but you learned to do what many people cannot or don't try to do because they think it's too difficult. You managed to keep each other in your lives for some period of time, no matter how many miles apart you may have been.
However, this long distance relationship will only work with both people. The connection that you two may have may drift apart because it's not the easiest. Although, the little things can sometimes mean the most. Yes, you cant take them out and spend time with them in person, but there are other ways to make the relationship work and grow rather then just watch it fall apart. A simple phone call can come a far way. Surprise with the unexpected.
And in the end, just know that you don't need someone to complete you, but if you do find a friend or that person - you're fortunate enough to have that other aspect to your life.

If things do come to an end just know you both will always hold a special place in your heart for each other, whether it's as friends or boyfriend and girlfriend. You were in each others lives for better and worse, and will one day look back on the experience and be thankful for it. For all you know, your paths may cross again.
