Everyone comes to college with hopes of meeting new people, and whether you're heading to a school with 500 or 60,000 student's on campus, you're guaranteed to do so. Here's a list of 5 different types of people you will most definitely encounter your freshmen year of college:

1. The person you thought you already knew

If you're going to college with anyone from your high school, hometown, childhood, surrounding area, or social media networking system, then you feel like you already know that person, that is until you get to college, and the world suddenly changes. Maybe you realize your high school bff just isn't the same person anymore, or that the kid from your town you never really hung with is the coolest person on the planet and you don't know why you hadn't been friends all along.

If you're not going somewhere with people from your town or school, there will still be those people you think you know from social media, and even though we should all know by now, you will still be surprised to learn things aren't always what they seem online.

Funny story on this one- there may even be that girl you think you shouldn't like because she liked that boy you really liked, and then she'll become your sister and you'll realize how dumb you had been. You never really know anyone until you go to college with them.

2. The person who cannot believe you went to a public high school

This is not a knock on kid's who went to private schools. Had I lived in an area with great private high schools my parent's probably would have sent me there, but I did not. I did, however, go to an amazing public high school, but it seems as though when you come to college almost seriously no one wants to believe that there could possibly be such a thing.

3. The person who hasn't got a clue

If I had a dollar for every time this one person in one of my freshmen level courses said "wait what" I would be paying my way through school and traveling the world. These kids are important though to the pure structure of the classroom and provide a nostalgic feeling of high school every time the frustrated the professor restates what has just been said (which not all will do so I do not recommend trying to be this kid).

4. The person from that extremely random place

While Ole Miss has students from all across the country, and even exchange students from around the world, it is mind-blowing when you're a small-town Mississippi girl going to a school you've grown up loving and attending Saturday football games at to find that it feels like majority of people you meet are not from Mississippi at all, and there's a girl right down the hall all the way from Alaska.

5. The person you don't know how you ever lived without

While that may sound romantic to some, whether you're looking for the love of your life or just friends in general, you will meet someone and instantly become best friends and wonder how you could have both possibly lived on the same planet for the past 18 years and not known of the other's existence.

While all these people are part of the true freshmen year experience, you will not meet only five. One of the best parts of college is the opportunity to meet however many new people you want, each with something new and valuable to offer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
