Patriots Make History

Everyone gathered around a TV with plenty of food and friends to watch Super Bowl LI and if you didn’t.. you made a huge mistake. The New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28. The game was nothing short of amazing and had every fan on the edge of their seat. It was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime and Brady took home his fifth ring.

Pats fans everywhere were closing their eyes, threatening to turn the TV off, and heartbroken as the score was 28-12 in the last ten minutes of the game. This was it. I have to admit I was convinced it was over and the Falcons had beat us. Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola scored the Patriots two touchdowns bringing the score to a tie. The first Super Bowl overtime in NFL history.

In overtime the Patriots won the coin toss calling heads and taking the ball first. Tom Brady also known as and commonly referred to as “the GOAT” passed the ball little at a time watching the clock carefully. In overtime the Pats went 75 yards in 8 plays for James White to score the winning touchdown after a call on pass interference. They didn’t only make history going into overtime at the Super Bowl, they made history with the huge comeback.

To all the Falcons fans that were convinced you were going to win and were trash talking at half time… that’s why we play the whole game! The New England Patriots have taken on their fair share of hate but I would just like to say they handle it in the best way possible:

Tom Brady appeared in a Shields Health Care commercial trolling Roger Goodell. It starts as the nurse asks him to remove all of his jewelry and put in the locker. As he takes off all four of his rings but then says “Actually, no I forgot this one” and pulls out the Super Bowl 51 ring. The nurse responds that he’s going to need a bigger locker and he says “Roger that.”


Then, Patriots defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia is seen wearing a Roger Goodell clown shirt as he steps off the plane.

The best part of after the Super Bowl is all of the memes. People sure do get creative. Here’s a few:

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
