Because loving your sisters has never felt so good!

Why Panlove Is The Best Love

Going Greek was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I know that probably almost every sorority girl you meet will say that, but there’s so much more to “going Greek” than just being a fun, philanthropic sorority girl. To me, it’s the people and girls you meet along the way. It’s the Panhellenic society has a whole that really makes me happy. What is Panhellenic? It is the idea of a union of all Greek societies as a whole. Not only do you share the love of sisters in just your chapter, but you share your memories, events, fundraising and socials with the love of your gal pals in other sororities as well. Now, what is “Panlove” since you probably hear it all the time on campus, in between classes and reading it on the Internet? Panlove is the friendships and kindness between girls of other sororities. Having a best friend in another sorority has opened my eyes to amazing women on campus. You meet people; you make connections and you build friendships that will last a lifetime. Though there are many reasons as to why “Panlove is the best love” I listed my top five reasons as to why I believe it’s the best kind of love on the earth.

One.

You get to break the stigmatism that sorority girls are “cliquish.” Which yes I do mostly do everything with the girls in the sorority I am in, having friends from other sororities make it easier to meet more people to go out on a limb to introduce yourself to people you probably wouldn’t meet by just surrounding yourself around your sisters only. People seem to think we only hang out with the girls who we share our letters with, that’s not the case, us girls love to take “Panlove” photos and hold Panhellenic events together.

Two.

Who needs a guy as a date for every social and formal we hold? Not me! Having your BFF in another sorority gives you the lovely opportunity to take her as your date when you aren’t feeling like taking a boy. You guys can also coordinate super cute outfits together; with by bringing a guy you’d never be able to get the cute twin look.

Three.

Since you and your friend are in a different sorority you always have different “go-to friend groups” that way, it is cool to be able to introduce her to your friends and vice versa. I am a person who loves to meet new people, getting to know someone is always a great time. If you have a fear of meeting your friend’s friends chances are if she likes them, then you probably will as well I mean that’s what Panlove is all about, am I right?

Four.

Mixers! Need I say more? Having mixers with another sorority is a great way to talk to a girl you wouldn’t normally talk to, you get to meet new people and who knows find a new great friend while at the event. A mixer could be anything like having a movie night together, beach day or throwing a cute themed party; with St. Patty’s Day around the corner that would be a super cute and fun mixer to do with Panhellenic on campus!

Five.

Having the real love and support from not just girls from your sorority, but from the others as well. I think it is important to always be there for on another, yeah sure we get competitive at times during Greek Week, fraternity competitions and all trying to be number one on campus, but let’s face, it even if your best friend is your competition at times you wouldn’t trade her for the world. Being able to go to each other's philanthropy events to help reach our money goals, always being there to support each other during tough times. Let’s face it life is weird, and things can change in a blink of an eye, when you have a strong Panhellenic community, the girl power is incredible and you sure as heck will never feel alone.

The love I have and share with all of the girls in the Greek community is the best thing I could as for, I can’t wait for it to grow more and more; and with that always remember girls rule and boys drool!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
