To My Momma

I owe it all to you

To My Momma

Where do I even begin when talking about the human who brought me into this world? (and the one who can quickly take me out of it) From a young age, we always had a special bond. For you and I, it was just the two of us and the dog from the age of 5 until the beginning of 5th grade. Found in that little yellow brick house on Letchworth Rd in Camp Hill, we overcame the impossible. Together, we tackled a very hard time in our lives. Those consecutive years, I look back and realize now how much you taught me during that time. You showed me what it took to be an independent women and that you can make it through any situation with the right people by your side. As those signified the harder days for you and I, we held on together and made it through coming out stronger than ever!

Following those years, we expanded on our duo of a family! After meeting your husband, my step dad, you revealed to me what true love really was. Not only did the love between you and your husband bring upon insight, but also the love that could be received within the connection of siblings. Growing up all of my childhood as an only child, having siblings around was a new obstacle for me! After getting through the in-mature phases that we all experienced, I am so beyond thankful to have 2 older step-sisters and an older step-brother! You guys have and will always hold a special place in my heart. You guys are incredible and I can’t imagine my life without you three. Thanks for everything!

Leading into my high school and early college years, you were my backbone through it all. Whether I needed a shoulder to cry on through the stress of applying for college or words of encouragement prior to a huge exam, you were always there! You always knew the right thing to say. When I was too indecisive to make a big decision, your input always helped getting through difficult times. You continued to support anything I chose to pursue. Whatever changes I came to you with, I knew I could count on you being there for me. Thanks, Mom!

This past year, you have especially stepped up beyond words can describe. After the diagnosis of my Dad, you did the unspeakable. You were there for him when I wasn’t around to be and did whatever you could to support both him and I through such a horrible time. Whether that meant communicating with him when I couldn’t or visiting him at the hospital, I could always count on you for that. I know these numerous months had been hard for you and I want you to know that I will always love you more than you can think! No matter what, you will always be an awesome mom, don’t ever forget that!

Mom, thanks for everything. You have continued to make me into the woman I am today and words can’t express my how much I appreciate that. From the bottom of my heart, I love you Mom. Thanks for being the strongest, hard-working, and most beautiful woman to enter my life.

xo,

Your daughter

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
