Overthinking At Its Best

Because our brains never turn off.

Overthinking At Its Best

Every situation you've ever encountered has been made a billion times more difficult because of your need to over analyze. Making a decision? Forget about it. It isn't happening. You are terrible at letting things go. Everything tends to stay with you. You go over every detail of every situation and you come up with some irrational thought that makes you overthink the situation even more. If you could, you'd get a degree in overthinking. If you had a dollar for every time you have overthought anything, you'd be a gazillionare. The words "sorry" and "thank you" come out of your mouth way too often, to the point where people begin to wonder if you're okay. You apologize for literally every single thing that you do and anything you haven't done. Literally, you'll apologize for saying "hi" or for not saying anything at all. Overthinking makes you go insane! Insane people, insane! There is no talking you out of the irrational thoughts that your oh-so-creative mind comes up with. You can tell yourself that you're being stupid or dumb, but that'll only get you overthinking even more. For those of you lucky duckies out there who don't overthink, here are a few examples of what it's like to be an over thinker:

1. Your brain doesn't stop, even for a second. It just keeps going and going and going ... and going.

This is an accurate depiction of a brain that over thinks. Not even joking.

2. We apologize so often that sometimes "sorry" will just slip out, even when we don't mean for it to.

Did I mention I was sorry?

3. Oh, your tired? You wanna sleep? Forget about it. Going to sleep is probably the most difficult thing for us to do. Our brains never shut off.

4. Deleting and rewriting texts, emails, or statuses is a highly common practice amongst us people.

Probably shouldn't say that, or that, or that, or that either. You know what, maybe I shouldn't say anything at all.

5. Living in the moment? Sorry, never heard of it.

All you wanna do is have a good time, but your brain just won't allow it.

6. Letting things go? That ain't happening.

Brain: "Remember that time you did that stupid thing in that awkward situation? Yeah, so do I."

So, basically, if you're not an over thinker, then your life is probably super easy going and simple. Unlike us over thinkers, you're able to go out, "do your thang" and have a good time. I'm not saying that we don't know how to enjoy ourselves, I'm just saying it takes a while to evaluate and analyze every single situation before we can go ahead and have a grand ol' time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
