What makes someone beautiful? Long legs, a flat stomach, piercing blue eyes and maybe we’ll throw in a perfect smile? Absolutely not. Actually, the complete opposite of any of those qualities are what is perfect to me. Our imperfections are what make us beautiful.
What do I mean by our imperfections? I’m talking about our stretch marks, our thighs that stick together, our scrawny or not so scrawny arms. More than half the population in this world are unhappy about what they see when they look in the mirror. We need to change that. The fact that people think only girls are the ones that are self-conscious is not true at all. Guys walk around every day struggling with their appearance too. We need to make this society right so that we all feel beautiful in our own skin.
You need to look in the mirror and say the words "I am beautiful" out loud. This is because it is true. Every person on this earth was made differently and that is why we are all unique in our own way. You wish you had longer hair and prettier eyes? Screw it. You wish you were 20 pounds lighter? Screw it. This world is so focused on the way we look that people are going above and beyond to fit the ideal look of "perfect." To me, I think it is beautiful when girls are curvy or guys don't have muscles and a six pack. If I could go around to every person that doesn't feel comfortable in their own skin and tell them how beautiful they are, I would. Each person deserves to feel that way.
Girls: Go out with your friends one night and put on that red dress that's been hanging up in your closet for months. Curl your hair, and wear your favorite make up. Be crazy and take as many pictures with your friends as you want. Feel beautiful.
Guys: Go up to a girl with full confidence and ask her on a date. Nothing is more attractive than confidence. Any girl would be lucky to have the chance to go out with a great guy like you. Find a girl that is going to love you the way you are. That is what is so beautiful about this world. There are people out there that will make us forget about all of our insecurities.
