The two party system limits voters to two choices.
Narrowing the country's choices to a select few individuals is a necessary system, but should be a more slow one at that.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will garner their supporters and hold the most historically supported chances of winning the presidential election. However, the candidates also represent many of the qualities of "the establishment" that deter voters to begin with. Even Trump, who is an outsider and has broken the ranks of politicians, portrays many of the distasteful pieces of corrupt politicians and the greed of many members of the one percent.
Voters across our polarized nation are looking to find a third option, and many have already stumbled across one that appears to be more than a viable option. Indeed, Gary Johnson appears to be a realistic option in the 2016 presidential race.
The Libertarian Party exists on a platform that draws heavy fire and heated debate from both the right and the left. While there are many public opinion matters on which any number of voters may disagree with Libertarians, the core of their current campaign resonates with the masses: a free market, balanced budget, and peace for the people.
"If, after four years, you decide you don't like peace, prosperity, and freedom, you can always vote a Trump or a Hillary back into office." (Suggestive eye-roll from running mate Bill Weld.)
Governors Gary Johnson and Bill Weld promote the idea of a bright and enticing America rooted in "peace, prosperity, and freedom."
If that sounds like a good idea to you, and you think that a third option is a good place to look (like most of America), then give these running mates a look. You may realize that here really is a candidate for you.
