Dear Little Sister,
Although I may not show it, I want you to know that there isn’t a day that goes by that I do not think about you. The accomplishments that you have completed thus far inspire me to do things that are just as great. You are also one of my motivations and reasons for aiming to have accomplishments that are so great. You make me want to be better and make life better in the process.
I know I tease you endlessly. We get into arguments. I call you stubborn and give you a hard time for wearing striped leggings with polka dot shirts or outfits of all the same color, but that’s why you inspire me. Regardless of what I or anyone else says, you do what you want. You are your own person and you let it shine, I admire you for that.
You are also one of the most caring people I know. You are always lending a helping hand to others, even when it is not asked of you. You take everyone’s feelings into consideration when making your day-to-day decisions. You have always and continue to, deal with going to all of my events. A recital, a presentation, or a sports event, you have truly experienced it all with me.
You say that you are not all about that soft lovey dovey stuff, but in reality, you are. You are like an Oreo. You pretend to be hard on the outside but anyone that has the opportunity to truly get to know you can attest that on the inside you are full of sweetness and soft love.
Life is hard. Especially right now. You are transitioning from child to teen. You are starting to experience bullying and cliques. If you don’t have the shirt that everyone else is wearing, you get judged. You are making new friends while losing old ones. Classes are starting to get harder.
There may be times when you feel like your life is ending, but I am here to remind you that it is in fact not. I will always be here to help you through those incredibly long theorems that keep you up past midnight. When you experience your first heartbreak I will be there to bring you ice cream and will even purchase the sharpies so that we can draw all over his face in your old pictures.
You are smart, determined, beautiful, a risk-taker, and talented in so many ways. Your friends are lucky to be able to call you their friend. As for me, I am lucky to call you my sister. Even if I had the option of choosing someone else as a sister, I would choose you every single time because no one is capable of replacing you. I don’t say it every day but I really do love you.
We may not be near in person for forever, but we will always be close at heart.
Love you always,
Your Big Sister
