It is currently 11:58 a.m. and I am — of course — jamming out to One Direction. During this hour, I can't help but inevitably think of you and all of the countless times I've forced you to listen to them (1D) with me in our room. Along with that, I also look back to the good/bad times we've had in the last couple of months.
Now, I know an article won’t do enough justice to tell you how grateful I am for you, but I’m hoping it can amount to a decent amount of justice.
I remember sitting in our pre-calculus class with familiar faces and (ironically) what we thought were unfamiliar equations, always. It was in that room of about 13, we decided that once college came around we were going to be roomies! Moving to a whole new state, just the two of us, was something that was going to be completely different for us — but we craved change and longed for the time to be on our own, away from home. We were ready for that: naive seniors in high school were to discover the finer things in life.
Waking up every day to someone other than family was a bit different for me, but as the semester played out, there is no one I was more thankful to see every single day. We went through a lot — more than most is an understatement. Through the first semester you were my rock, my partner in crime, my best friend, and my sister.
We both learned to take a really bad day and make the best of it. From midnight Wal-Mart runs for chocolate, to times like after a late run, hitting up Denny’s (which made the running pointless, but I still think is hilarious), the list goes on and on.
There have been times where I wasn’t at my best and you were always there for me, and I cannot stress the always part enough. I mean even going through an ugly break-up, you sat and let me cry my eyes out and even ran to Wal-Mart at one in the morning to get me Ben & Jerry’s! Needless to say, regardless of the problems I had, you were by my side (and I don’t think there’s anyone that’s seen me cry as much as you have). Point is, you got to see a side of me that no one has ever seen, and it always brought us closer.
The amount of memories we have together I will cherish forever. There will come a point in time where I will actually long for our food truck runs (remember when we ordered pad thai at that one truck and it was gosh-awful?), or when we tied thread to a dollar bill to get chocolate because we’re dumb and dumber and it was too funny not to try, and ended up only being 25 cents for both. Score. Your love for waffle house, and how somehow you always ended up laid out on the floor will never be forgotten.
I learned to love you as a sister more than ever, and there is no one I am more thankful for than you and I simply can never thank you enough for all you've done for me. I was truly blessed with the world’s best roommate.
