Dear high school me,
I would give anything for you to be able to read this because I know you need it right now. High school was not the best time for you, but I am so proud that you made it through. As an older, wiser you, I am here to tell you that things will look up for you... just give it time.
The boys in your life will not be there down the road.
And that's okay. You will be hurt for a little while but you get over it. It will come as a shock, I know, and you won't know what to do for a little bit but you figure things out on your own for once and you completely dominate. You meet so many great people and move on from those who hurt you.
You will change your mind.
College makes you question a lot of things, like where you want to end up and what you want to be doing. Don't freak out when I tell you what you thought your major was going to be is not it at all. You're figuring it out and you like the adventure. If I told you you would be writing for Odyssey you would laugh in my face, but you are and you love doing it. That just goes to show how many things change for you.
You will find your place.
Right now, you don't fit in too well. It's hard having an old soul while you're surrounded by immature people, but that quirk about you ends up in your favor. You will doubt that you found your place your first year in college but that's just because you haven't adjusted yet. Give it time. You love where you end up.
You will still struggle.
Everything works out for you in the end but not everything will always be easy. You will get bad grades, fight with your roommates and miss your mom but you are so strong now that you will overcome everything thrown at you. Keep fighting.
You will be happy.
Those four years were incredibly tough for you. You faced a ton of challenges that you did not think you could win but you did. You overcame so many hardships and persevered, and it made you an incredible person. You would never think you could think the positive thoughts you do daily, smile this much or be genuinely happy, but I am here to tell you that you are. You are finding yourself, seeing the good in the world, and you are happy.
