Dear Sissy,
There is so much I can say, but I'll start with thank you. Thank you for always being the best big sister I could possibly have. You have always been there for me to support every decision I have ever made.
Growing up, I know I was that annoying little sister, that wanted to be just like you. Thank you for not getting too annoyed with me when I stayed at your apartment and including me with all your friends. I know you hated our matching sweaters and dresses that mom would make us wear, but thank you for going along with it and smiling even though you hated every moment of it. You don't know how happy it made me that you would match your little sister.
Thank you for being a shoulder to cry on during my first heart break and my fifth. You taught me that heart break sucks, but it will get better eventually, it's nothing that sister time and a glass of wine can't help. You've taught me that sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince and I'm so happy that you have found yours.
I laugh at the time that you told me you would hurt any guy that hurt me. I picture you being scrappy and trying to fight him, but it's the thought that counts right?
I smile at the memory of us sitting in your old apartment watching "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion." We drank two bottles of wine that night and laughed at the pure quirkiness of the movie. That was the weekend I had a huge fight with my friends and just needed to get away from school. You dropped all your plans that weekend just so we could hang out because I was feeling down.
Today, we are both grown up and leading very busy lives. Sometimes I wish we could be kids again, dancing in the basement to Britney Spears's live concert on VHS.That was the year we were both obsessed with her, you more so than me since you decided to be Britney for Halloween.
Brooke, God gave me you as my sister for a reason. We may not have always gotten along growing up, but you have been my best friend since the day I was born. Thank you for always being a voice of reason, a shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh until I cry with, but mostly thank you for being my sister. I love you more than you will ever know.
Always your little sister,
Kelsey
