Open Letter To Everyone Who Has Taken Their Own Life

I recently had a cousin who passed away due to her taking her own life. It hurts knowing that she is no longer with us due to the cruelty of the world, and her feeling like she was unloved and unwanted.

I am here to tell you all that someone out there loves you. Whatever you are going through is only temporary, and I promise that it will all end. Suicide is a permanent end to a temporary issue. I wish I could show all of you that you are loved, and although it felt right at the moment to hurt yourselves, it hurt others even more.

It pains me that people who commit suicide felt so unloved and so unwanted that they felt the only escape was suicide. I am sorry that you all felt that way. If I could bring you all back and show you that you really are loved and wanted, I would. People always said that people only care if you are pretty or dead, and I did not understand that until my cousin died; my Facebook was blowing up with messages asking about how and when she died. People I have not even talked to in months and people I had no idea she even knew.

I wish I could have helped you out more than I did. My heart goes out to all of you and I hope that one day we will all be reunited under that rainbow bridge. I hope that you all will take your angel wings and wrap them around your loved ones and keep them safe in this crazy world.

To my cousin, I miss you more and more everyday. Everyday, it gets harder to deal with. I love talking to Grandma Hummer about all of our memories. We basically grew up together, and I loved our adventures to grandma's house for too much food. You committing suicide brought our whole family to a shock, and the whole town of Waynesboro is mourning over your death as well. People loved you and wanted to help you. I wish you could have seen that. Everyone tells me that you are in a better place now, but I just do not see how. I hope you wrap your arms around our family and keep us all safe and sound. Rest In Peace, Beautiful.

Suicide is a permanent end to a temporary problem. Do not wait until someone has the gun, knife, pills, rope or needle in their hands to make them stop. Show everyone love no matter how much they may irritate you. Tell people you love them everyday. Do not wait until they are on their death bed because you never know when that could be. Another thing: forgiveness. Forgive people who have done you wrong because you never know when it might be their time to take their last breath and cross that rainbow bridge.

Rest in peace, beautiful people.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
