Donald Trump is not my president.

An Open Letter to Donald Trump

Dear Donald Trump,

Do you even listen to what is coming out of your mouth? You promote sexual assault for women! You have had three wives, five children, and eight grandchildren. You have a family who probably doesn't want that being said. I'm surprised they still support you. The remarks you have made about women are abominable. You say that because you are famous, it's okay to sexually assault a woman. I know that women, including me, are fearful in regards to the next four years.

You want to build a wall separating America and Mexico. Mexico is our third largest trading partner. Maquiladoras are located on the border. They are owned by the United States but located in Mexico for cheap labor. If you shut those down, hundreds, maybe even thousands, of workers would become unemployed. You don't realize that a wall will drastically change trade. Ending NAFTA would harm not only our economy but also Mexico's and Canada's. We have a great relationship with Canada, but your dislike of Mexico could make Canada hate us.

Minorities always seem to be your issue. After recent terrorist attacks, we have been on edge. I understand it, but people are coming to the United States to achieve the “American Dream." It's the same reason immigrants came to America hundreds of years ago. You seem to forget that we were built on immigrants. Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury, came to America from the British West Indies. Seven out of the 39 signers of the Constitution were immigrants. Race and ethnic groups are also an issue for you. You assume that after a tragic event involving a certain race/ethnic group everyone associated with that race/ethnic group was involved. You plan to have mass deportations and send people, especially Muslims, into “camps." That sounds familiar. My ancestors died in concentration camps during the Holocaust. You say the exact same things that Hitler did in Germany in 1933.

Countries in Europe and in Asia are saying, “Good Luck America!” Countries are laughing at us now. All great empires fall. I know we are not an empire, but you sure will run our country like one. All of your policies will make America circle the drain and fall through the cracks. I don't want that to happen. America was already great. We didn't stop being great, but with you as president we won't be the great country that we used to be.

You may have won the electoral college, but Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. Personally, I don't see what people see in you. You are a racist, anti-Semitic, ignorant, egotistical maniac. America is not a business. You have no experience. President General Eisenhower was the only other president not associated with the government, but he knew how to lead our nation. You, on the other hand, don't know how to lead our nation. I refuse to acknowledge you as my president. You are not fit to be president, nor will you ever be. I will stand up as a young Jewish woman, with my Asian, disabled, African American, Jewish Latino, LGBTQ+, and Muslim friends and make sure your words don't become a reality. I will always stand against you and for Hillary instead. #I'mWithHer

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
